Just came back from meeting up wif law and caleb. Tried lawrence bike and i hafta say, his is a super fun bike to ride and really lives up to his "twist and go" motto, coz well, its really twist and go. Even on gear 6 at half throttle, when u twist, the bike will pull. On my bike for eg, if on gear six half throttle and i go WOT, i can ride from upp changi road to tampines (on PIE towards Jurong) and my rev will still not top out. Super super super fun road bike to ride, a nice commuter ride with power.

That said, i feel theres alot of potential for top end power with a little sprocket ratio tweaking( but i dont think thats what he was going for when setting up the bike). A friendly 15 lamp post test saw him being in the lead by about a car length up till around the 10th lamp post, caught up with him at 12-13th lamp post with still one more gear to go for me(not sure what gear law was on)

I will not say that lawrence's ride is the best most powerful RS in Singapore but i believe he has achieved the perfect compromise between power and rideability. And i think it serves as a lesson for those want to sell their bikes to upgrade coz they're not happy with the performance. I've ridden super 4's before, from Version S to Revo's and honestly, i will take law's bike over any super four any day. Its not that the RS 125 is not good enough, its just that ur bikes are sh*t and u dont bother to set it up properly.

Testing laws bike has given me a new direction in terms of the set up of my bike and im gona work towards making my bike up to standard of his bike. Fyi i rode his bike from pasir ris to woodlands, so i had a nice long ride to really get a feel of the bike. So im not carrying anyone's balls here. Im speaking based on facts. And the facts say that this is what i want my bike to be. Hopefully with some fine tuning i'll get there one day =D

Anyway thanks law for trusting me to test ur bike. While riding, at the back of my head i was already thinking of how im gona get the money to replace ur CF fairings if i were to low side ur bike. scary man. lol.

You're welcome, Ash. You know, yesterday was the very first time I've ever seen my bike being ridden, because I've never let just anyone touch my bike, much less lent it to anyone to ride on the road beside me.

I was surprised you didn't push it to redline. Would have been fun, cos even with slight throttle changes, I could see my bike accelerate so much faster than I can catch up with your bike on the wrong gear. The narrow powerband on your bike makes it good for track, but I really don't know how you ride it on the road, and especially with Caleb behind! haha...

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

As for the beer I owe you, let's do something on 9 or 10 Sep (Fri or Sat). I'll be almost totally free that weekend.

Anyone driving up on the 18th for the race?

I read an interesting article in the latest issue of SportRider (What Drives You? by Andrew Trevitt) that gelled well with me and thought I'd share a small excerpt:

"Like most people, [my doctor] had assumed that because I rode a motorcycle, I must be a 'thrill seeker'.... I had to explain that no, I was not a thrill seeker....But the doctor's question did make me think: Why did I ride motorcycles?....For those not bitten by the racing bug, however, there must be something else that drives them, and this can be broken down into mental and physical aspects - or a combination of both. For some, it's the mental satisfaction of finally getting through a tricky section on the street without panicking...For others, it's the raw feel of wind on their chests , or the extra G-forces...What's interesting about motorcycles is that, whereas some activities and competitions are almost all mental - say, for example, chess - and some are mostly physical (like running), riding a bike has both mental and physical aspects."

anyone noe where i can get cheap suits or if any store is having any sale? I kinda have my eye on either the Dainese Laguna Seca or the Alpinestars SP-1. But im kinda worried about buying off the shelf suits coz im kinda small size. Another option i was thinking about is getting a custom made suit from Spirit leather, but their prices seem to have been on the rise lately. When they first started out my friend got a custom made to measure one for $550. Last i checked their prices now start from $900 for a custom made to measure one.

Then comes the dilemma. At the price point of the Dainese and Alpinestars( around $1.2-1.4K if im nt wrong) Spirit does a K-leather suit around the same price range. If possible i would like to spend sub thousand. Thats why im wondering if theres any sale. But if im going to have to spend more than $1k then i might as well go all the way and get the Spirit K-leather. I know theres a Dainese store but which store brings in Alpinestars?

What do u guys think?

Anyway what do u

dainese is brought in by JR in kaki bukit and alpinestars by regina. its best to try the suit out before you commit. i know Berik and Revit are nice and comfy.... but than again its my preference. just my 2 cents bro.

Sure... Please join in the fun. As for myself, I usually give respect where it is due. I cant stand nonsense for posers and wannabes. :)

Those dates seem ok, I'll let you know my schedule when it's a week beforehand, and confirm with you. Oh yea, and I wont be bringing my wallet.

When's the next MotoGP btw? I want to watch at your place. ;)

If you want cheap, go for the Rjays at Regina. I think 500plus or so.

I went shopping at Regina recently. Most probably getting a Alphinestar suit. See too many Laguna Seca at PG already. :) But those were the only 2 brands I was considering.

Reminds me of a funny story. There was a punk who was b*tching about me to Ah Seng saying that I borrowed a suit and didnt know how to give back etc. I made the mistake of borrowing a suit from a beggar when I wanted to test my Polini at PG last year, and didnt want to commit to a suit yet. (I sold off all my gear when I got revoked in 2008). I used it only once, and was very busy, had no time to return. That beggar, suddenly decided that he didnt like me, comes and posts on SBF to ask his suit back when he didnt call or SMS me even once to ask for it back. He claimed to have done so, but when I called him from my mobile he didnt know who it was. Nice ah? End of the day, the punk who was badmouthing me also was a beggar. Talk so much, in the end, he also borrowed a suit to go PG. :)

Anyyywaaayyyy, you dont have to worry about buying off the shelf. They have many different sizes for you to try. So try till you find a perfect fit. But make sure you have the money to buy before you go. I dont think they'll be too happy if you say you'll come back another day. Hahaha.

If you're keen on an A*star, you can buy together with me, most probably in October. Can get discount. I got my gloves afew weeks back, was served by Ah boy's son. He was nice and polite, and quite knowledgeable about the suits for such an 18 year old. I went in, asked to look at suits. He brought me to the showroom. Tung and I took our time, looked at each suit, while he explained. Then we looked at gloves, tried each one. I didnt plan to buy anything that day, but i was happy with his service so I bought gloves. He spent atleast 45min with us and was very patient. thumbs up for their improved service!

Thats what im going for! But im planning to get an all red suit. And I've seen both the Laguna Seca and SP-1 in red and im tottally in love with the both of them. If only they were cheaper. haix

I already got a pair of boots but its black though. All i need now(apart from the suit of course) is a nice FF helmet. Have always loved AGV. Planning to troll the garage sale section in hopes that someone wants to sell their Ti-tech Winter Test Sword.

Hi guys! Need some suggestions abt tuning my bike.

First, my bike is running

1) K&N panel filter

2) Stainless Steel exhaust

3) 34mm Flat Slide with (158main, 38pilot, 266atomizer)

- Idle Screw : 2 Out

- Air/Mixture Screw : 2 Out

With the above screws combination, it runs really well (with little spluttering from 5k to 5.5k rpm). However, my main concern is that it is idling rather high at around 1.5k rpm and also rather loud (as compared to 28mm carb).

I tried adjusting the idle screw to 2.5Out but the spluttering got worse (heavier spluttering from 5k to 6k rpm). Does anybody have any suggestion of maintaining minimal spluttering & lower level of idling (shld idle at around 1.2k rpm)?

Asf : I tried following what you had demo at the dam. I was holding the throttle till 4k rpm and adjusting out the air/mixture screw but my rpm only rises SLOWLY up to a range of 5 to 6k rpm. I'm not sure what i had done wrong but this was what i did.

1) Set idle screw at 2Out, Air/mixture screw at 1Out

2) Hold throttle till 4k Rpm.

3) Slowly unscrew out(anti clockwise) the air screw

4) Slowly rises up to around 5k rpm after 1Out ( So now my air scew is at 2Out)

I did tried to further unscrew it to a total of 3Out but it just slowly rises to 6k RPM. There wasn't any sudden jump in rpm or whatsoever. Any kind advise?

hi all, i going overseas for one week plus. but there is no one at home to help start up the bike every few days. its it ok to just leave the bike there. do i have to detach the batt or do something etc.

thanks

Still very Boggy around 4.5 to 6. Need to down size my pilot and atomizer :)

Hi, my bike's also the same. Maxed out the air-screw as I want to take it (2.5 turns) to lean it a bit. Bike actually ran good when it rained (lower air temp, more air in = leaner?).

Anyways, you have any idea were to get smaller pilot and atomizer? I can only find main jets in pjme, af1... Haven't tried any local shops (mostly coz i don't know where to look :D)

Thanks in advance.

btw, just got the package from pjme (a few bits only, boyesen reeds, new intake manifold, some fairing bolts, compression tester, gasket/thread locks, and a double bubble screen).
