alex, iswan once mentioned tat the centre part of the gpr tyres tend to wear out or flatten vey fast due to it's soft compound... n suggested battalax for a better choice..

wat ya think?

ya true... i'm more track orientated.... if u wan fast get gpr70... got afriend used both before... a rvf with track timing 2min... he said the other is crap... gpr70 is still better even on a 400

the centre wearing out faster on gpr70 is very normal... if u r a straight road racer or relax rider i think battlax is enough to use... my 250 mainly for track so i don really care... o as for tyre slip part... i think its quite eviatable have a slide on piant on wet days... gpr also will...

That depends what you consider high speed. Above 50km/h, it's a requirement of physics to countersteer in order to change direction. It's not an option. There is physically no other way to change your bike's direction. It's probably no coincidence that learners aren't allowed to go above 50km/h at schools. The schools consequently can get away with not teaching new riders countersteering. Then the riders pass, get on any expressway, go above 80km/h, and don't know how to change direction quickly and efficiently to save their lives. Pisses me off.

Many people are sick of hearing my story of the CBR900 rider I saw who had to hang off to change a single lane on PIE at no faster 80km/h simply because it was obvious he didn't know how to countersteer.

Please don't take this as arrogance on my part bro - I'm here to share knowledge, just like you - but countersteering is easy, and everyone already does it to some degree, whether they realise it or not. It's not black magic or any kind of secret kungfu, but is in fact a basic of bike control.

Yah, Wan did mentioned that before, cuz Battlaxes are dual compound - hard in the middle, soft on the outside. GPR70s are soft compound all around, if I'm not mistaken. They were created for production-class racing, and long life was therefore not a priority. On our lightweight bikes though, lifespan is pretty acceptable.

Sigh, I've really wanted to meet up more with everyone cuz there's lots I'd like to discuss, but things have been so crazy lately I got no time. I don't even know if I'll be going motard race tomorrow. I guess I'll have no choice but to meet up with the track group on Monday morning first, and then meet up with the rest some other time. So much for my original intention of gathering the entire club for announcements and opinions, haiz.

i think they r toking about countersteering for corner entry... my thinking of counter steering is more of track purpose so if they r not practicing for corner entry then i'm out of point liao....

See... that the thing. they say can mod ur fork internals as in springs etc while still using the orignal fork. changing the top adjuster might be considered an illegal mod. but if u change ur fork to the current version like yours, it is legal. for urs any change inside is legal. see the grey area.

in anycase i just need a new fork oil and possibly put in some shims to increase the preload while i think about a new set of springs.

ya but in order to practice it i do it even if im juz moving at 30km/h.. n when u're going tt slow u gonna throw tt handlebar soo hard till as if im gona fall off the bike.. but i wonder will these do harm on the steering cone or whell bearings in the long run?

Andrew, i've said before, don't need to learn counter-steering yet, not your gradual unknowingly countersteer, i'm referring to those techniques use to enter a corner at high speeds or clearing a chicane.Like alex said, practise basics first, when to brake, how much brake should be applied, eyeline, arms bent, riding posture, slow in fast out, don't stick to the apex(rem the kup chai line you took at jurong?).. everything from entering the bend to in the bend itself to exiting the bend must be calculated..improve on those first. I'm still learning myself as well, and i find i can't learn at a faster pace on roads due to multiple risk factors, besides alot of close calls and friends have been badly injured. That's why i'm dying to go track, but do not have the proper gear and bike set up.

That's why when i read that some of the new aprilia riders who had a accident a few weeks or days after their license,i am wondering how come? not as if a car hit you or something, mostly i feel is you guys not taking biking seriously, going round at high speeds and taking unecessary risks.Don't take this as a scolding, i got this as well when i talk to my group of frens who have been riding for donkey years. All about respect..yourself and your bike.

Always be prepared.

I guess Battleaxe is the way for me... Anyway, i'm a fan of big tyres.. IF i'm not wrong, it's ok to use 140 - 150 for the rear tyre for our rs125...

yup i can't put it in words better... haha... well for track wise its good that u wan a better gear for track... my first track day i was in full suit already.... everything was new except my army boots! :slapforehead: haha ... the track look so big and lots of intimidating bigger bikes.... i went on a sunday if i remember correctly... kept my cool and tried to remember the track.. after half an hour i went faster but got a few corners i over shot my braking point and went off track a bit... so i know which corners should a newbie look out for... those r killers for them...

For those of you who have watched the movie, TORQUE.

Im sure everyone saw the RSV R the lead actor was riding but did anyone notice the first few lines in the movie?

He arrives at an out house/gas station after smoking a DC 3 & a Eclipse and speaks to a boy there.

Boy: Is it fast?

Biker: SOMETIMES (with a sorry grin on his face)

Its a RSV-R for god's sake, with 107Nm of torque, at a stand still, it looks fast.

Unless he was referring to the reliablilty of Aprilia?

Maybe he would say always instead if he got off a R1?

HMmmmmmmmm....food for thought...........

Most people go through life following the crowd.

Others think for themselves.

They go their own way.

ya i think so too... rsv is quite low powered compared to ducati... in moto gp they r always one of the mid or back markers.... sad isn't it..

Personally, in this regard, I think its not a fair comparison between production & Moto GP bikes. IMHO.

A bike that rolls off the factory floor and one that is prep for race, may be based on the same basic chassis, engine but Im pretty certain there will be alot of other variances, eg, just for a particular track they will have a different set of sprocket for optimum acceleration & max speed, tyres, inlet & exhaust manifold/extractor degree settings and the list just goes on...........

it does not really matter if its moto gp or not.. in both product series and gp one they r still losing... hope they have a break through of some sort..
