Hey vik, check out the thread below for the run-in thing. Its been discussed too many times, but no conclusion. I will say, just do whatever you feel like doing. As long as got 2T (be it lousy or good) and you never really whack it till redline, your piston not likely to seize so fast. So, just ride....

discussion on 2T...sometime back....

If you free or hunger for more knowledge, i suggest you visit Shell website. It has those animated pics to show you the difference for 4stroke and 2stroke engines.

I am not a mechanic, I might be wrong. So, please check with others!

chris, did you try to connect the 2 wire together?? previously i brought my bike to tis workshop in ubi where they only charged me 5$ for doin it..

Er, of course I did. Connected 2 wires, 3 wires, ground one wire while connecting the other 2, etc, etc, all following Aprilia's wiring schematic and sidestand diagnoses recommendations in the service manual. You know me lah, I tried everything. Cannot, and even NTrust scratching their heads right now.

Hmm, I'm wondering what exactly happened.. So that means you havent even seen the block??

Why am i so interested? Hmm, dunno leh bro.. I thinking of buying your bike.. hehe :cheeky:

Actually I'm quite interested know what causes the piston to jam/seize.. When i firstly joined this forum, i knew nuts abt our bikes.. Listened to the wrong ppl.. 1 thing i realised is that you have to gather as much knowledge as possible and separate the crap from the good stuff... It's all about asking questions in the forum.. I learnt now.. So i take evry incident as a learning experience, something that everyone should do actually, try to learn something from it.. So the next time, this kind of problem, situation comes up, i know what to do..

Thanks for the headsup Kelvin...

But i still wondering, what is the best way.. But like what Chris said, it take someone who has time, money, energy and also crazy to actually go try out.. We'll just have to see...

Now i wondering why Chris bike cant start at all is it?? Chris, hate to say this ah, but do you think the Aprilia 'experts' at Mah might know anything?? Sinc they are the ones who bring in the bikes?

Any symptoms leading up to this problem??

no, have not seen the block yet. thought they would be efficient and have it stripped yesterday; guess they were too busy for that. one of the mechs was working on someone's RS125 which sounded very very bad. dunno how to describe it in words.

you want to buy my bike? as in MY bike, or the same model bike? what, seized up and all? ok, now i know i have a ready buyer! :p

i think the basic idea to avoid seizure is to RTFM, which was drafted by lawyers interested in preventing lawsuits against the company, so the recommendations are on the conservative side. They state, quite plainly, to NOT exceed 6k rpm within first 800 km, 9k rpm from 800-1600 km, and 11k rpm thereafter.

but then again, i did all that was prescribed, and the engine seized. so i am curious (and disappointed) myself.

Yes, bike dies even like that. I'll try and check the clutch cable, sigh. Damn electrical problems, grrr. Give me anything mechanical, I not scared to fix, but this electrical stuff is driving me nuts. Er, for people who still don't know, my bike's generally ok, I just low-sided it on the track, grinding off my sidestand sensor, which seems to have somehow turned the sensor circuit permanently off, preventing my bike from engaging in any gear without dying, though neutral is fine. See how lah.
