You'll notice that at first the engine "smokes" on deceleration, this is normal, as the rings haven't sealed yet. When you're doing it right, you'll notice that the smoke goes away after about 7-8 runs.

the smoke theory applies more for 4 strokes i suppose, u may mistake 2T for smoke...

 

Well actually you don't lose that much power such that u can't go to track, many internet sources quote about 10%...but it's also said that some engines do gain power over the years

 

And I think it's not good to do a hard run-in or entirely soft run-in.

 

An overy soft run-in, as mentioned, will not generate enough pressure on the rings to wear it against the cylinder wall, before the wearing pattern has worn off.

 

For an entirely new bike, you could seriously destroy your bike... Thnk of of your valves (assuming 4stroke), internal bearings, gears, n many other internal moving parts...If you exceed the recommended rpm, you will cause excessive wear n there high chances of premature failure.

 

How about hard acceleration and deceleration, but without exceeding the recommended run-in rpm?

 

ps: these theories apply for brand new, out of factory bikes.
