this is starting to sound suspicious.

 

not knowing exactly what happened (dunno why you're not telling us), there can still be cheaper explanations why your bike is refusing to start.

 

ah well. too bad, try to learn what you can to avoid another occurence of seizure.

hey, jus go first motor lor. change piston there only 300+, if block spoilt, can get them to help u find. or post here. im sure lots of pple here have contacts to help u find 1. last tme i found alot. but nv take in the end, the mech at first motor helped me found 1. 200 only. even block spoilt. after overhaul. total something like less then 600. cos piston only 150, block if 200.

its 350 only + all the labour, oil and other charges. maybe 500 only. last time i change its 570+ i tink. cos i change some other things as well.. good bargain there. anyway... dun go JB repair. very dangerous. heard the aprilia there cost more then in singapore .anything can msg me. i'll try my best to help. see ya~

Jeretan, I can sell u my piston for $50 n guranteed it is better than scrapyard quality. Get ur bike fixed at FM which is a better shop to fix Aprilia n the price is reasonable.

 

This post is to clarify anyone who have doubts about the price of an Aprilia RS125 overhaul.....

 

1) workmanship for RS125 engine cost about S$180 at First Motor.

2) Con-rod with the pins n 2 side washers cost S$418

3) The 2 round things holding the con-rod cost about S$300

4) Bearings inside..... 2 bigger ones which cost S$40 each (hi-speed bearings) smaller ones about $28 each n there are quite a few inside.

5) Transmission gear bearings ( gear box ) duno the cost but I changed almost all of them because all melted.....

6) a bottle of good gear oil n coolant......

 

for those who knows maths, calaulate all the things.... my mech charged me S$900 for everything. My con-rod bearings was smashed till it is flatteded to a piece of square metal. The 2 round things holding the con-rod was totally burned n unsable. Most of the bearings are either destroyed or flettened. S$900 is cheap. Well anyway I post this just to let ppl who are interested to have a guide to what an overhaul is like n also to let those who like to go high rev n hold it there to know what is the possible consequences it will cause.

 

I m running on 2T pump plus pre-mix in the oil tank... safe or not.... up to individual. I onli use very good 2T n to be exact - 747. My block n piston is unscratched but i duno why it is so cause con-rod jam usually assciotiate with piston n block jam. I have to mend my engine cover though cause there was a deep scrath in it... but i m in the metal industries so it is possible.

 

Usually overhaul will take ppl 2-3 weeks. I had mine done in less than 3 days. What I did to my bike is for my own personal use. I pay my mech how much he is asking at a reasonable price n i feel affordable. For those who still wants to know what I did, this is what was done b4 the overhaul.

 

1) changed to GPR70 tyres 110 front, 140 rear... S$255 at FM but if want budjet, Ah Boy selling at S$220... but I trust a better quality mech to touch my bike.

2) wheel bearings changed to a higher quality ones... S$35 each x 4

3) sprocket front n rear n chain I changed to 428 size ones... About $180

4) Bought another carb different from the 28mm type. I use stock carb on the road... the other for track. ( price unknown )

5) changed to another type of piston cause I dont like the original piston. (S$174 )

6) Exhaust got too much carbon... I de-carbonize it n change end-can fibre so that it wont be so noisy. ( unknow how much also )

7) and some other small small things.... like signal lights .....

 

how much I spend is not imporatnt.... I can easily cash buy a cbr150 with all those things i do but it is what I like so individual preference n pls dont commend on it again. I m not a damn stupid fool to get cheated otherwise I wont be what I m working as now.

 

For those who are more of a critic rather than a friend.... think over again. I will try my best ( like what Viknesh does ) to help those who are in trouble or in doubt more rather than post here or there or do all those "thunder" ... got sound no light.... no action n speak onli things... even if things dont turn out good, at least we try our best rather than striking thunder......

Wait till I achieve my objective.... I will be back with a more powerful engine and a more sexy bike......

dannis i think it is beter to tell them the parts price is enough la

 

every shop charge workmanship DIFFERENT

 

some shop charge 180 cheap

but i rather pay abit more as worksmanship is better at other shop :)

I dont think my workmanship for the overhaul is a lot..... 3days vs 2-3 weeks.... dont think he charge me for the workmanship also.....lol..... do a calculations of the price of the parts n ....... I forgot to say that I bought all brand NEW parts....

Maybe its time to visit our aprilia friends in KL afterall. If my 250 is ready by then, I'll go. other wise, i just bring my fazer down and just be marshall with u guys probably ask myapriliabigbore to bring us around to the hotspots.

Thank You Dannis for the breakdown of the parts. It will definitely help the guys out to prepare for a similar overhaul.

 

Expensive lesson learnt from what i heard from alan. Nice try on the r6 though. If u catch it on video, let me see... hehe...

hmmm juz wondering what conrod are u using? original rotax 1 or pro-x? from mi knowledge pro-x conrods are not that expensive. not sure whether rotax conrod is available though but if its rotax original conrod then i guess its worth the price if not i would say u might haven been cheated. check for the package

$418+300+(40*2)=$798 and this have not include the $28 bearings and the gear box bearings. assuming there are 4 $28 bearings, the total will be over $900....

and there are still the gear box bearings, good gear oil, and coolant...and lastly, labour!

 

Dannis, I totally agree with you. Its cheap. I paid $120 for my top job and poeple tell me its ex and that FM is cheaper. :cry:

 

Now its seems your workshop laggi better... :cheer: where is this mech, it seems like your mech is losing money leh. Not only never charge labour, the cost of parts is more than the amount you pay. tell me leh, then i can go there change clutch plate. :thumb:

I am not a mechanic, I might be wrong. So, please check with others!

120 for labour onli or overall? dannis price on the whole very cheap. including all the trans bearings conrod, piston not to forget all the gasket and also gearoil

firstly, a second hand piston will NOT work wit another block cos different size..

Repeat a 2rd hand block will only work if used wit the same block block and piston as a set

 

conrod =>$150

all bearing(full set) required , left , right , centre , top , bottom=> $70(normal) , $380 (high speed: brand = FAG)

piston => $150 (pro X)

gasket=>$30

 

 

dannis , ur shop really very cheap only $900.... me last full overhual spend $1180 :cry: :cry:

FM charge me 60 only for workmanship of overhaul. i change both block and piston. haha.... anyway thanks dannis... my saviour, sell me everything so cheaply when im broke. things he sell.. sure good. upz~
