hi..i have this prob on my sp..1) sometimes when i try changing gear which always happens on gear 2 to gear 1 there will be sounds like.."TATATATATATAAAA!" like the gear hitting on something and cant get into gear 1..sometimes it will be down gear from 2 to 1 it will hit neutual gear and when i kick down again.. theres a v hard "TA!" sound.. 2)another problem is i changed my rear rotors and pads and switch my footrest to stock(previously was yoshi) 2 weeks ago at pl**ets motor.after which i found my brake not efficent at all..so i asked and was told nid 1-3 days of seasoning..but after 2 weeks..my rear brake nids to be press all the way down and hard to really feel the brakes.isit me or is stock footrest affecting the brakes? 3)this is not technical prob but its bothering me..i went y**w motor 1 week ago to plan my new paintwork and he told me to put *honda racing sticker* as its nicer..so i agreed but jus todae i went home i saw a sp with *honda racing sticker* but its *racing honda*..the opposite..which is the correct one? THANKS ALOTTTT

honda racing.. sounds correct.. either one doesn't really matter?

For no. 1 quite normal for SP if your idling is high, therefore a loud TA is normal from neutral to gear 1... or gear 2 to gear 1..

For no. 2 maybe the rear brake is not bleed properly causing slack with your leg brake..

you can check the reservoir...

That's why I always believe in LUCK! :cheeky:

wad do i nid to look out for?the sharpness in the teeth?

Look out for "Sharks Fin" ... Your chain will slip when the sprocket teeth are finned, and this is very unsafe - the teeth could break and the chain could fall out

when you shift down from gear 2 to gear 1/N, do not shift it when your bike is on high rpm(above 4), best is wait for it to almost stationary then you shift to gear 1/N to reduce the "TAK" sound.. it will reduce the wear on your gearbox..

alot people like to do this:

from N, blow abit blow abit..(maybe around rpm 3-5?) then kick down to gear 1.. the "TAK" sound will be as loud as well.. in the long term, your gearbox parts will be damage..

and as schwein.bissen had said.. it could be your sprockets/chain as well.. check for wear & tear and replace it w/o 2nd thought..

regarding your brake

you changed @ planet, did you ask if the brakedisc is original or cheong one? cos there's 2 version.. and what brakepads were given to you?

did they even bother to re-bleed your brakes after installation?

properly installation will require to bleed the brake a few times to sure the "bite" is there.. if even such simple task they fail to do.. i suggest you boycott that shop..

alternatively.. check out the Hands On thread and try/learn to DIY...

Speed is too fast when you down from gear 2 to gear 1 thats why there's a loud "tak" sound. Try to brake more before you down gear.

Rear brakes are actually quite ineffective IMO, could it just be psychological problem?

To see the reservoir, need to remove the fairing on left side I suppose?

They sure must bleed ur rear brake as when they remove the previous brake the brake fluid will leak, if they don't bleed it will have not enough fluid level..

I never use my rear brake while riding so never even touch on my rear brake :cheeky:

The Tak is somehow normal, when u are going fast then u just kick to 1st gear sure will tak...

just ensure ur chain and sprocket are fine, clutch plate still bite and the bike should be okay

That's why I always believe in LUCK! :cheeky:

the chainguard was lousy one.. too thin already. i have change to a thicker one. damn good quality.

anyway i suspect is your brake fluid resevoir not enuff. i experienced before 0% rear brake effectiveness. i tot siao liao, dun tell me brake pump spoil or wat. i went to planet to find mark. he test test my bike, bleed my rear brake and voila.. the rear brake effective liao..

btw, i change the original front rotor for 80 at planet. didnt know that the smaller rear rotor cost more than the front though..

make sure u change from gear 2 to 1 when your speed is like less than 10km/h? even if 20km/h sure will have the noticable "tak" sound. not good for the gears..

have fun riding..

haha!

wanna mod ur airbox ah? :cheeky:

Advantage:

Its believed to improve performance cos more air and less restriction! o_O

Just remember to tune your AFR/carbs properly!

Disadvantage:

No airbox / filter!!

Try riding with ur visor up and ur mouth wide open!

This is the air that goes into ur engine!

The airfilter filters away much impurtiy/particles and prevents it from entering the engine.

Imagine the damage the engine takes. Scratches to ur piston.

I suggest if u wanna try.

Instead of removing ur whole filter. Buy a HI-Flow airfilter.

It filters but still air intake is large.

KNN have HI-Flow airfilters.

Just remeber to tune ur AFR/carbs aft u have changed ur airfilter to prevent running lean or rich!
