IUH24D is the one without the U grove right... tot the Denso website claims that u grove increases power? :confused:

Got groove = got more RAW power.

Hi, was thinking of getting a silverwing too :D is 15k+ OTR for the 09 model ok?

wow.....09 model means GT? where were you quoted $15+OTR?

Posted (edited)

we last heard the GT (aka SWT-400) was going for around $17+k OTR... whoever quoted you about $2k lower either liked you a lot, or there's some T&C plus costs not yet included, or parallel import, or its the old leftover stock FJS, etc. suggest check n confirm before committing.

maybe COE & Jap Yen (affects the machine price) have dropped significantly...

COE for bikes hasn't dropped big (latest $882).

Yen dropped from the 0.0165+ levels in Feb to the regions around the 0.0150 and 0.0155 band since Mar 09. suppose the machine price is Y900k which converts to $14.85k/$13.5k using the max/min rates, the difference is $1.35k. but note we comparing on a max difference basis. so lucky?

shop/dealer so good die give you max benefit + further discounts? :clapping:

its the 09 model FJS (same specs/body as ours except some paintwork difference), then price is not attractive for an old stock which the dealers bought in 2008 before the big Jap yen hike. but of course they won't tell you that :lol:

just my 0.000002 cents worth :cheeky:

didnt specifically ask whether is GT or 09 FJS...was tinking 09=GT...yup will confirm b4 committing to it :D.was quoted by bike pro....went other places it is like $1.5k more in machine price. warranty carried by boon siew for 1 year. $15k+ is wat the sales person break down to me. machine price+COE+GST+IU+INsurance....anything i miss out or not included?

if its bike prod.. 15k might be the FJS one. Several stock still have the FJS in stock. Best to check. But hard to say too, cos bike prod quoted me 13.5k for brand new FJS 2-3 weeks ago. hmm..

btw.. any bros here used any aftermarket wind shield?

Givi one looks good, but silverwing.org have reviews of the clearview one even better. anyone tried those?

Im tempted in getting a taller one, and the sports one. hee

09 ≠ GT (aka SWT-400)

it is just FJS produced in 2009 with slightly different paintwork o_O

haha... just as i guessed, coz their OTR prices are always below others, but they uses the "Ala Carte ++"...

suggest you include the following to calculate the true price :deal:

* machine price (confirm the year of manufacture; the older the cheaper even when its new, so remember to bargain)

* COE (ask whether any rebate if COE prices drops below; you must monitor yourself to get the diff back coz they won't auto tell you)

* total GST (make sure they didn't charge GST for COE)

* IU (include GST)

* registration fees

* admin or agreement fees

* minimum loan and period, interest rate

* loan terms (think they charge early repayment penalty)

* insurance type (make sure it is at least 3PFT also known as 2nd party; comprehensive also can but top up lor)

don't bother to ask for freebies, its not in their "menu" :o

ya lor... OTR $14k is a good price considering many shops selling around $15k. suggest you check with motortiam the following:

~ which year is bike manufactured?

old stock bikes are usually priced lower than new shipments. e.g. at same shop, i was quoted $12.7k for a 08 model but only $11.5k if i take a 06 leftover stock.

~ what their OTR covers... all in already? IU & IU registration?

~ what insurance is given? age already factored in?

with insurance premiums sky-rocketing, most shops will adjust quotes up when rider is young and some shops give only 3P instead of 3PFT. buyer top up extra if want 3PFT, probably a few hundreds. imho, min should be 3PFT.

~ any attached conditions?

most if not all shops quote "with-loan" prices, i.e. must take min. loan at x% interest. e.g. one shop quoted me "no-loan" price = OTR price + $500

~ additional fees payable?

could be anything from admin fee, loan agreement fee, etc.

do read this page... we have some comments about BP's pricing model

sounds like $15+k is not that attractive after all or it could really be for the GT :cheeky:

From what I know, The new 09 GT has a mode button which is same as my JDM sw...

From what I feel on a JDM and a Euro...

JDM: Pickup better(compare to euro), mid also not bad, if give it a sudden slight hard throttle, can feel abit of the push feeling(respond better). But JDM have power cut at 152~155km/h

Euro: Pickup compare to JDM is slightly lack abit, for mid, if give it a sudden slight hard throttle, can't really have the push feeling but smoothly increase in speed. Top end is better then JDM as euro model dun have power cut which some bro who are on euro sw claims that they even hit 182~184 (pipe change).

What I want to say is, for 09 GT SW, this model might have power cut which I not too sure?? :) as she also have got the mode button... and to any bros that are interested in getting, do find out more info first b4 getting. Unless one may feel that at 152~155km/h MAX(Same as JDM Model) you are comfortable with then should not be a problem:)

But if gg for trip, and will a ff on, 152~155km/h is very easy to hit without notice it untill the cut off kicks in with a slight pull feeling :(

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi SWingers,

Am new to scootering scene and have been reading scooter cafe threads like SW and Tmax.

Am considering options whether to get a new maxi or scout for 2nd hand. SW seems to have four models: JDM, Euro, FJS & GT.

I read about the difference between JDM and Euro - that's fine. Now, there's FJS and GT. I'm a little confuse over latest model of SW i.e. is it true that FJS and SWT differs only in paintwork? FJS made in Japan and SWT in Euro?

a) 2001 to 2009... beyond???

JDM = Jap model

FJS = Euro model

same look http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_silver_wing_2009.php

b) 2009 and beyond

GT = SWT-400

don't know about the engine & transmission differences but body differences could be seen from the pics from the links
