Hi all,

 

Have a qn to ask...if I'm selling my bike but haven't found buyer yet, can I first cancel my bike's insurance, since I won't be riding it anymore? Meaning my bike is still under my name and will have valid road tax only but no existing insurance, is that allowed? Of cos after I cancel the insurance, I won't ride it on the road anymore.

 

Any comments?

Even if i didn't cancel my road tax, i still have to lay up bike? I thought laying up bike have to terminate both insurance and road tax...

yup, my previous piece was bought from motoworld at $45. unfortunately, they have no intention to "bring" in new batch after leftover stock is finished. heard the shields were made-to-order in bulk by motoworld and it took a long time for stocks to clear, plus existing design can't be used for new models (SWT & GT), no incentive to bring in another batch that may get "stuck" for dunno how long.

i think its best dat u check with your current insurance company.

few years back, lay up bike means pending/waived off your road tax, but your insurance still runs. some companies do not practice termination for dat but maybe nowadays its possible. i dun dare to confirm. best to call them & find out.

just checked that the S$400 cap for overseas purchase (import) actually includes shipping charges and not just value of items purchased. i.e. we will have to pay 7% GST input tax.

 

estimates...

value of 6 pieces = 6 x US$49.95 each = US$299.70

shipping cost = US$80

total value of purchase = US$379.70, approx. S$474.60 @1.25 rate (depends on bank's rate for credit card used at time of purchase)

+ 7% GST = $33.22

Total inclusive of GST = S$507.82

estimated cost of each piece = S$84.64

 

... pay more for 7% GST

... pay less on share of shipping charges

dun think so cos the combined mailing cost will go up beyond US$80 after a certain no. of pieces. my guess is they're using a "standard" box with max. load limit so once exceeded, a bigger box (higher load limit) at higher price is required.

fellow SW, i have to leave my bike over at the looi's motor to let them check all over again.. the sound that i mention at belting area, wow, was louder when i slowly pickup..

 

also when i start the engine, the light just goes off and comes on when the engine is running..

Oh u mean if i cancel my insurance now, my road tax will also become invalid? (Since have to buy insurance first then can renew road tax.)
