GT is wat?? :)

So now I need to specific Euro model if i wan to buy from other shops

BTW Euro n JDM model got any price diff?? :)

Ehh... GT is short for SilverwingGT, which is the JDM model. Currently I think (could be wrong) only Mah Pte Ltd and Bike Production has it bah.

Most shops get their Silverwing from Boon Siew, which is the Euro SW-T.

Can anyone help me with some questions?

i'm new to silverwing and will it collecting it in few days time please pardon me for these questions.

1.Is the engine oil gasket tends to broke and leak? Is it possible to be fix? will it affect any perfomance or the engine? as i notice there's a little leakage of eo of the sw.

2.The self lock spring or shld i call a shock in the compartment seat which manage to hold the seat when i lift it up. Can it be service/repair as well? as currently the shock had failed, no holding power.

3.Where is the coolant reservior located? I tot of checking the coolant but been searching for 30mins and still cant find it.

4. For stock front stock spring, when u corner, is it tend to wobble a little bit?

5.Anyone tried service ur fuel injector and adjust ur valve? what's the mileage which is adviseable to do.

6. If currently the sw runs on heavy gear oil like 80/90 for gearbox, is it adviseable to revert back to engine oil? as i suppose the manual stated it shld use is engine oil. if i revert back does it require to have some engine flushing or something?

7.Any more things i need to take note of b4 getting it?

btw anyone here riding the sw with the additional mode feature? how's the review on it?

Thanks in advance for those can help me with these questions :D

:cheer:

Glad to have u in my life : ) Always love one another!

My answer in Orange. I assume it is the older SW.

Hmm...never heard of EO gasket got problem. If talking about the magnetic coil side then it is possible but not common.

2.The self lock spring or shld i call a shock in the compartment seat which manage to hold the seat when i lift it up. Can it be service/repair as well? as currently the shock had failed, no holding power.

Don't think can repair. Must buy new ones. Try FJT.

3.Where is the coolant reservior located? I tot of checking the coolant but been searching for 30mins and still cant find it.

Open the cover of the right compartment. There is a screw to unfasten and take out the box. The reservoir is under it.

4. For stock front stock spring, when u corner, is it tend to wobble a little bit?

If too soft, probably. Get it check. Should change fork oil every 2 years. Use heavier oil or change to better spring.

5.Anyone tried service ur fuel injector and adjust ur valve? what's the mileage which is adviseable to do.

usually just add some injector cleaning into fuel tank will do. Haven't heard of anyone doing valve clearance on his sw.

6. If currently the sw runs on heavy gear oil like 80/90 for gearbox, is it advisable to revert back to engine oil? as i suppose the manual stated it shld use is engine oil. if i revert back does it require to have some engine flushing or something?

Change it when you next change EO. Use 3L of EO: 2.2L for Engine (with oil filter change), the balance can use to flush the gears before adding the remaining 0.32L to fill the gear compartment.

7.Any more things i need to take note of b4 getting it?

Hi sw9000, i appreciated ur reply! :D

Btw do u know do u know the different btw a jdm and a gjs? Other then the sports mode and higher comsumption of fuel?

For the engine oil leaking is on the right side, just below the pont which pour in eo. Is that usual? As I hear that is orginally build without gasket so tend o leak.

allow me to add to SW9000's feedback...

* SW does not use gasket to seal the crank case side cover, it uses engine sealant (most of us use silicone based ones)

* leaking below the right side engine cover is not uncommon, costs abt $50-$70 and few hours labor to reseal it... no biggy

* read the Tech Corner for more info on diff btw FJS & JDM

for this job, i strongly recommend K&T... look for ah chuen (mech) or clifford (boss), but better to make appointment with clifford before popping by cos they are usually very busy. not nice to go down then can't get service cos they simply got no time to service your bike, especially when this job is time consuming (be prepared to leave bike there for 1~2hrs and go makan).

so far my side cover got sealed 3 times (2x to replace magnetic coil, 1x to seal leak), all i can say is the job done by ah chuen is most satisfying cos he took time to clean the contact points thoroughly before applying sealant, allow time for curing to occur before putting cover back for good seal.

Thanks, btw if i I delay the sealing up of the case will it affect the engine performance?

By the way any windshield to recommend that is longer than the orginal one? As I find the wind resistant is pretty big, haha rushing all over to my face.. But if I hide under it, is gd!

As well as is normal for the pick up to be slightly heavier right? Due to it's weight.
