yeah man Skidrow, welcome to the club :clapping:

first piece of advise from us is (especially when this is your first scoot)... take special note of the SW's dead weight (approx. 248kg OTR) and the free gear when handling the bike at idle or engine stopped (push parking). we have fellow SWingers dropping their bikes as early as within few hours of ownership... heart ache like hell 心痛死了 :pity:

do join us for kopi... we'll poison you with the touring virus :cheeky:

I just picked up my bike yesterday evening, and had to get used to the deadweight like you mentioned. I think the work around of removing this deadweight is to apply a little throttle at all times to keep it from going free gear (during movement). But it was quite cool man :)

Have to get used to the "light" front handling, and also with nothing between my legs. Always need to grip something in between la..hee hee...

Better not drop my bike man!!! Just added a new coat of paint!! Hee hee...

Cheers!

You noticed it ah? Hee hee....Yup, I sold it liao :)

Sold it to a nice guy whom we have a mututal friend, so I still can see the bike once in a while. The bike is very unique, cause I did a lot of modifications that no other GoldWing has. I spent close to $8,000 to get it up and accessorised. But it was worth it :)

My "problem" is I change a lot of bikes, and when I have one, I will do it up very nicely, and when the time is up for the bike, I let it go to a lucky new owner...hee hee...This SWING will be my 21st bike I have owned all my life. I guess I'll hold on to this for at least 2-3 years ba.

I already got some plans on upgrading and modifying this new baby liao...hee hee...

Maybe you guys can give me some advice too eh? ;)

I am planning to add on a passenger backrest, passenger armrests, a GPS system and a CD/MP/Radio deck with remote waterproof controller to the handlebar.

Not much aftermarket accessories to go with the SWING though yes? Can't see much...

Tell me more what this baby can do...hee hee...

Cheers!

Ha ha ha! Sigh, that's what the other GoldWingers say to me also...downgrader!! Hee hee..

But no offence taken for anything la...I am easy going guy. Have to be realistic too. The GoldWing was fantastic man...I just came back from Terengganu with them, altogether 150 GoldWings from Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia and Thailand. It was quite a sight :)

But when riding in Singapore, a but tiring la. Clutch control during jams, overheating tendency, fuel consumption of 1l=12km, dry weight of 370kg....tired la...hee hee...Some more I am only 1.64m

I do hope to get another GoldWing in 3 years time, where I can consider the 1800, or the new 2000cc model by then. But when you get a GoldWing, I think need to back up with a smaller bike for Singapore roads. This might be the one...;)

I might have to take a rain check for tours for the next couple of months, as I have a 10 year old son, and also a 4 month old daughter...you know la...have to stay home and look after.

Some more got wife leh....wives are the most difficult to handle one leh...they need more attention than the kids. Pay too much attention to work, they grumble. Pay too much attention to kids, they grumble. Pay too much attention to bike, they grumble....alamak...if not for sex, I don't need wife man...hahahahah!!! (Joking la darling, I love you many many la...)

But for kopi, sure can do something one la...I look forward to seeing what can be done to the bikes, and also take part maybe in short rides around.

I realised if we create more awareness of the beauty of this bike, not only will we appreciate it more, the value of this bike goes up more (makes selling much easier...hee hee)

OK ok....talk so much liao...enough for now.

Cheers!

Looking at some of the pictures of the dash board, it seems mine is not really the same.

My fuel, clock and temperature is LCD screen, and there is a "T" button on the left side of my handlebar. I believe mine is the Japanese model?

Not sure what I bought leh...hee hee hee....

yeah... "value" is going up indeed, new OTR now about $4+ higher o_O

more SWingers is definitely good, but i'm not so sure if its a good thing for SW to become as popular as S4, coz we our parts may also become popular among "borrowers" who don't intend to return :o

Bro,

I don't think SW will ever be like S4, as the scooter culture, especially the bigger scooters, are relatively not so well accepted. SW owners are usually those that appreciate comfort and smooth speeds. Modifications to the external areas are quite limited (based on my searches), so the borrowing may only be towards things like the cover (poor thing, the guy who got his cover stolen) or accessories on the dash board. It will be quite a feat to take apart the engine to steal anything.

Hopefully the SW community will be a community who conducts themselves in a very responsible manner, so that when other bikes see us, they know they are riding along a responsible rider, one who doesn't blow exhaust at them or ride dangerously.

Frankly I find it very difficult for an SW to piss others off. The SW seems to me to be a very gentle bike with smooth power bands.

I could be wrong la, this is only my 2nd day riding!! Ha ha ha!

hi guys! do grounding n sync our bike improve smoothness n performance? thot of going down to K&T 1 of these days to do it... n also change EO... wats e damage like probably?

there're lots of claims (see quote) about what grounding can do for a car/bike, but mostly unsubstantiated by lab/dyno tests.

· Easier engine starting

· Smoother engine, due to better ignition leads to improve fuel consumption

· Improved power (gain back the lost power due to insufficient/inefficient stock grounding)

· Improved engine response (due to fewer loads on the alternator after improving the charging efficiency)

· Improved audio quality

· Brighter and more stable head light intensity

· More efficient air conditioning

· Miscellaneous electrical improvements on the gauges, sensors, etc.

someone ever asked, "if grounding kits do produce such wonders to performance, then why the manufacturers didn't install it in the first place?" cost of a few additional "high quality" wires isn't much, especially at bulk... ever wonder why? i've got grounding done too :p my butt dyno says the bike is somewhat smoother, but don't think there's any diff in horses.

a typical grounding kit costs $60 onwards... but DIY will cost only a small fraction

as for synchronising the air screw, its better to understand what it is about before going K&T to do it ($40). suggest read this Air Screw Synchronisation

its a relatively easy task, but you'll need a set of vacuum gauges
