just wondering, how long did it takes for hl to get the sport screen for you? i ordered mine on 19 oct 09

 

Almost 5 weeks. Alot depends on shipment i think.

nope..not talking abt yours..talking abt the 5VU.havent collect bike did sticker on exhaust n panels alrdy huh..cool..but y dont change exhaust in stead of wraping?can it take the heat?

i opting for a quieter ride so intending to keep the original pipes, my other 2 bikes is already noise pollution in my neighbourhood..:D

 

yes it can, there was a blue tmax that was just sold to a lady rider at speedway, that happens to be a touring kaki bike before he changed to a ktm 990. He had the wrap on and no problem.

 

then again, who knows, i may find an exhaust that i like and changed it later on but at this moment in time, the stock pipe stays.

 

May i ask way accessories did you ordered besides the sport screen. Just curious....

 

just the sport screen and baraccuda licence plate holder...BMW touring grips but i may still go for rizoma grips, that what is on my fazer right now and kinda like it

Noted. I bought my Tmax 2 months ago and have so far added the 2008 rear rack with the passenger back support. Also bought a Kappa 49 litre box that sits smartly behind.

 

Of course, the latest was the tinted sports screen. Yes, i ahve also removed the stock handlebar grips to the BMW's. Good reliable grips.

 

As of now i have also no intention of changing the original exhaust too. Did some survey and like the Yoshi pipe, but i heard from Motorworld that it is not LTA approve.

 

Lastly might do a modification on the front headlight to turn on the two beams at low beam. I do not think that it is a difficult mod but i believe that such mods might render the Hong Leong 1 year gurantee void. So keeping my itcy fingers off for the time being until next year. Cheers! :angel:

i too will want to do the dual headlight conversion and a master switch to be able to switch off the main lights, leaving only the pole light on.

most probably will get speedway to register my bike this monday and think will collect it on friday. Ya my neighbour will complain me taking up bike lots, sorry yogi..:D

Y not try moriwaki then,.... based on the spec given, it should be street legal. beside that, if it's JMCA approved, i am pretty sure, that it will be easier to legalised in singapore.

on the topic of having dual headlights on.......is it possible to still have the high beam function????thats one of the things that i been wanting to do... but taking 2nd priority for now.......

found some write-up on the dual headlight conversion from other forum..

 

Sure... here's an updated version. Thanks to Psolk, I corrected the instructions as I had written the procedures with the headlights backwards. These instructions should work now. Of course, you do this at your own risk, author has no liability, yada, yada, yada....

 

End result: You'll actually be putting more light down on the road and it makes night-time riding that much better. The light on the high-beam side will be brighter as the reflector is set-up for high-beam operation, but that helps with night-time visibility. This has no effect on high-beam operation (i.e. You'll still have functioning high-beam as Yamaha intended.)

Yamaha must have thought that we would want to have both headlights on, so the plug on the back of the headlights have an empty socket for a female spade-type connector. You'll want to go to Radio Shack and pick up:

 

1. One right-angle (90 degree) spade connectors for 12 gauge wire.

2. One wire tap

3. About 4 feet of 12 gauge wire

4. Inline fuse (just in case)

5. Electrical tape

6. Some plastic wire loom (if so desired, but not strictly necessary)

7. Soldering gun or good crimp tool.

 

From under the headlights, you should be able to get your hand up behind the headlights. Start with the left headlight (the one closest to the rear brake lever.) You'll see that only 2 of the 3 blade type connectors are used. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, pop off the "lid" of the connector. You'll be able to insert the 90 degree female spade connector there. (making sure, of course, that you've cut and crimped the 12 gauge wire to an appropriate length and attached it to the spade connector.) Once you're satisfied, just reconnect the headlight socket to the headlight bulb.

 

Next, run the wire through the wire loom and zip time to the wire bundle. This will help give it a "factory look." Run the wires until you get to the right-hand side of the bike. Insert an inline fuse if you'd like (I did - 10 amp fuse is plenty.) This will help ensure that if there's too much draw, the fuse will pop before anything bad happens (like burnt wiring.)

 

Once you're ready to connect the right hand headlight, reach up and pull off the headlight socket. Once you pull down the connector, you'll see the low-beam wire. Tap into that wire with the wire tap. Be sure to seal up the tap well with electical tape. Once you're satisfied, just reconnect the headlight socket to the headlight bulb.

 

Before tucking the wires away, check that both headlights are on in low and high beam mode. If all looks OK, then tuck up and zip tie the wires. That's it!

hey thanks maxxmadness aka 35.........read a couple of times but still can't pix it.... first question.....I would have to change the H4 (high beam) bulb to one of those that have dual function (high&low beam) rite????

 

So if i on to high beam... will still get the high beam look.......

 

am i making sense???? hahahahah

hmm...i havent got a chance to see how the connector look as i have yet to collect my bike..what i make out of the read is that if we do the dual conversion, 1 will be one on H4 and the other on H7. i believe the stock set-up, high beam is on H7 and low beam on H4. But yammies has intentionally removed the low beam female connector on the H7 side, thus we need to "re-activate" this function by adding the female connector.

gheeze..i think i will collect my bike this week so i can really see what the wiring about

The headlights project is very interesting n i n cxcx wanted to do a Projector lamp conversion but quite a fair bit of job..Tmaxs have a bad rep for lighting..

..Tmaxs have a bad rep for lighting..

 

a pity the tmax didnt take on the great lightings from fz or fjr. these bikes never fail to light up msia dark roads..:thumb:

speedway i tink has a carb version for sale..not very sure..black in colour..u can go check it out..

ya...i took over Feiray's royalstar...... lovely machine..... but reckon since i dun tour.. let someone else who will unlease its potential ride it....but i so miss a huge arse cruiser......

I have change the H4 to HID Hi-Lo beam. I now have the choice to on 1 or both headlight anytime.

 

wah...where u did it bro....wats the damage........any issues with inspections..... wah.. sorry for so many questions.......
