With pillion, 3k RPM. No pillion 4.5k - 5K RPM. :cheeky:

those that change below 5k.. or about 3k.. what's your fc like? 3k to me no feel yet you guys change gear already ah.. wont the bike have a 'choking' feel?

Agree.. 3krpm change gear the engine like panting lidat.. Move off even slower than kup kia..

My previous Spec 3.

RPM chg => FC km/liter.

1) 6.5k => 16.5

2) 6k => 19.

3) 5.5k => 20.

4) 5k => 21.

5) Below 5k nvr try coz will buli by kup chai.

Jun90-EX5, July94-K1, Aug98-Kriss1, Aug05-Wave125, Apr07-TA200, Jun08-Spec3, Feb09-REVO, Nov11-CBR250R, Jan14-CBR400R.

Chg gear at low spd will coz ur crank shaft over torque load & ur chain over tensile stress.

As heavy u carry as higher rpm require to produce torque.

S4 have a eager engine and is fun to rev....

The vtec surge is also the signature to the vtec series...

Cos of FC and buried all the good points that make this machine fun......

i change to 2nd gear at 5k, den the rest all change at 6k. fc is 20-21km/L.

 

for mi i feel ride like tat the bike response better. previously change at 4 and 5k but like very ........ dunno how to say. haha

i ride pretty aggressively and like to run up through the gears, changing at about 10k for 1st, 9k for second and then about 8k for gear 3-5. if i'm cruising i'll ride in 6th at whatever rpm matches the speed limit. ~5.5k at 80km/h, ~6.25k at 90km/h, etc.

although drag gear is more shiok but my pillion always kp say change gear at hihg rpm gt the jerk. Very uncomfortable.. So with pillion i will be more gentle :cheeky:

hmm.. ok.. i am getting about 20-21km/l.. wah you calculate % vtec open somemore.. if like that mine is open about 30% of the time.. almost all on 6th gear..

 

to what i believe, its not too good to change gear too early as well.. you are making the engine work harder..

 

maybe someone can confirm this.

Got Malaysia plate kupster behind must change at 6.5k-7.5K otherwise 4k is ok:cheeky::cheeky:

 

Haha. After u reached gear 6 then overtake them from behind feels more shiok :cheeky:

yep, you don't want to make your engine labour.

 

you can really hear it if you roll the throttle too far when your rpm is too low or your gear is too high.

 

if you only accelerate slowly then its not really a huge problem, but its a good idea to never run below about 3.5krpm, even for cruising.

4k-4.5k rpm will b acceptable. if 5k will be abit draggy

while changing gear..do u guys depress the clutch fully or half clutch??

i normally do it at half..

i do it at half.. my clutch press abit can engage already.. so much so that sometimes i nv press enough i kick already.. end up nv change gear at all..

Before i hit 4k i changed gear.. But of cuz when i wanna fly off at a traffic light. Usually about 6 ~ 7k.

i change at 4k to 5k. so far so good. lower than that engine starts to choke, begging to go faster. haha
