Hi all, I'm a new CG rider.staying in the west side(teban). can i join in the fun here?

Read through all the 8 pages and I already have questions for tony aka the CG guru(at least to me lah).

guru tonychan, I saw pics of your restoration process in webshots, may I enquire where did u buy those parts? the mudguards, exhaust, headlight, shiny suspensions...etc...I was advice to buy them on my own at ah boy and bring it to the mechanic to fix up so that it will be cheaper. Am on a really tight budget. The current condition of my CG is rusty, old, messy wiring. I wanna do up my CG fast as it has been already been delayed for 10 mths. Please advice.Take your time time to reply, understand that u got understanding wife and kid.

i'm really keen to join in the thailand trip as i've full confidence in the CG,(except punctured tyres, the only thing that we can't guard against) but alas i aint got leave anymore.

dear normaxz

i think i never say go ah boy side buy things....

united @ rowell rd is the place where we go and buy the stuff.

why dun you diy?its easy to hand on on this ride.

maybe you can met me up and i will tell you what to do.

tyre just get the inner tubing.i got the tools to remove and pump.

PS.if you wanna tag along to the thailand.i can help you to restore.

Wow! Its going to cost lot of money man! Go to Kinokuniya bookstore n ask for 'Custom Burning' or 'Street Bikers' Mag for references. I can assure u tat u only need less than $300 to mod yr bike, if u have basic DIY skills.

Anyway keep on Modding!

Personally, I don't think it is that hard to do that you need a book to get instructions. There are a lot of overseas forums on the ineternet where ppl are sharing their experiences on what they went through to get their projects done.

It is equipement like full welding equipment, ginders, bench vice, etc, that is going to cost money. Equipement that takes up space and not very often utilize. Let us not forget to cater for a place to do the stuff as well. :sian: Some money you can save, some you just have to let ppl earn lah. In fact, I can also go to JB to do for maybe half the price too. But I am not going to save that mnoey and give myself the hassle of travelling to and fro through the customs to do this. If you consider the bike shop of its expenses, I feel that the price is quite fair. The actual costs of the materials and stuff fitted to the bike is actually less than $150.

Of course, if you are not constraint by equipement and working space factors like myself, for all means do it. I am sure it will be a very satisfiying experience.:thumb:

Tks for the reply guru Tonychan. I was actually advise by the mechanic to buy the parts from ah boy even the fuel tank coz he said it will be chaper to buy a fuel tank and the side covers instead of re-spraying. DIY....mmm anything that saves money I will be interested..budget constraints lah...but i know nuts about engines,wiring..knowledge is the only thing stopping me from DIY. Will head to Rowell rd to buy the parts. Incidentally I have a friend who stays in Rowell rd, maybe i can use his back yard to DIY.

I really am interested to ride up North, coz my cousin did it on his STX (even reaching phuket, not easy to push the bike gotta 'up' the ship) and told me that it was a damn great feeling seeing places that aint the touristy kind yet beautiful.

but this year is really out for me as i've exhausted my leave. I can't even apply for 'no pay leave'........pai seh pai seh

Hi all,

I'm planning to get a CG or a RXK or something similar, and do it up.

In terms of reliability and availability of spares, which do you recommend?

What the running cost like? Fuel consumption, insurance?

Where will be a good place to shop for it?

Cheers

dear salty.

for speed.rxk is faster

engine oil i think rxk use less EO(abt 650ml if im not wrong)

cg use 1L

rxk is a 2-stroke bike-higher maintance/1 spark plug/need 2T oil/smokey ride(because is a 2 stroke).fc abt 33-35km/l.

common parts with almost yamaha ride.parts are easily to find in all bike shop

rxk is heavier than cg

cg is a 4 stroke bike,low maintance.no need 2T.fc abt 45-48km/l

china is making this replica,so parts are not to worry(if using china parts,it will not last as long as japan)

some cg parts are cheaper than rxk.

if you want fast go for rxk

if slow go for cg

both bike is also bullet proof ride.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the prompt reply, so price and age wise, any comparison on that?

Any shop that sells reliable used K or CG?

Also, if I intend to do it up, any rules to abide to by LTA? Which parts cannot change at all?

get from seller from garage sale-used bike.comfirm much cheaper and good condition compare to bike shop

get coe ending 2013 and above best

you can do what you want but dun get caught....
