Lol. Weird small noises?? Hmm....

I only hear the "wheezing sound" when it was time to replace my rollers. And yea, I do agree, I do hear that too when I changed to Dr Pulley. But after I've changed to a new set of stock rollers, the "wheezing sound" disappeared too.

So I guess, it's indeed the rollers causing the noise.

How much are the Michelin Power Pure SC??

I just changed my tires to Pirelli Diablo SC =D

Here in the UK they are £90 more or less 110 Euros for both.

Before Michellin came out with these 2 compound technology I wanted to move to the Pirelly Diablo, a lot of good reviews abot them especially on the DT300. The stock tyre did quiet well almost 15,000km. The rear one is completly slick on the inside :), the front one could do another 15k easily but I prefer to use the same brand on both tyres.

I don't mind the noise, knowing that I am gaining on performace

Erm, don't be fooled by the presence of treads though. I couldn't stand the stock Maxxis tires. Changed it out at 3000km mileage. It was really horrible in the wet and even in the dry over road markings. I almost skidded in our Multi storey carpark even while riding slowly (I didn't experience such issues on the Metzeler and so far Pirelli), and while cornering in the wet (also a slow bend), I could feel the whole rear of the scoot skidding to one side =(

My Metzeler Feel Free was slated to last at least 15k km (some Silverwinger's rode it till over 20k km), but it lost its grip both wet and to a certain extent dry after 13.5k km of usage. A fellow SYM MaxSYM 400 rider can vouch for this too. He changed his FeelFree out at 7500km.... Haha. The Metzeler FeelFree has excellent grip both in dry and wet, but only till 7500-9000 km luh. Beyond that, it's gone back to the crap Maxxis tires feeling.

This set of Pirelli Diablo's has been great so far. But I don't think the tires will last long too, before it loses its excellent grip in corners and on wet.

Well, it first appeared at about 10-11k km. I didn't take notice of it, but after a while, it became an irritant. So I decided to change rollers to see if it removes the irritating noise. The noise has since gone, so I can say the next time I hear the same noise, it's time to change my rollers. Haha!

My mileage is 17400km now.

My DT came with Kenda tyres, they are very strong and have good grip in the dry, they take a while to warm up but once they are up to temperature they do an ok job. In the wet they lack of grip, I lost the rear of the bike once taking a roundabout and scratched the exhaust cover, since then I lost the trust on the tyres.

@parotae

Wow 18g, isn't that oo heavy? you know better than me, I found the 15g Dr Pulley rollersto be a good balance for my daily trips to works (heavy traffic) and weekend trips outside the city.

The only thing that I started noticing recently is that they make a rattle noise when the bike is on Idle, I have installed a brand new set of Dr. Pulley and the noise is still there. When I reverted back to the original rollers the noise was gone.

My bike is cursed with little noises, I think I need to buy a better helmet or earplugs:)

Hi Juanpauk, I am having the same rattling noise during idling too. Don't know if it's the same noise :)

The noise will generally go away after riding for some distance.

Here's what i did but it's only temporary.

The variator have a small piece (bell) with 4 black pieces of black plastic for sliding in and out the variator during acceleration. The black plastic are called U-shoe. What i discovered every time when i took out the variator is that it just refuses to come off like it's stuck. It should come off easily but not. I have to knock a bit to make it come loose. So what i did, i lightly grease the 4 area on the variator where the black plastic slide and fix everything back. After starting the rattling noise was gone. Felt so good with the rattling noise gone. As the variator will be hot and spinning at high speed, the grease will eventually get fling off. I tried with the more sticky copper grease but it harden and makes the plastic hard to slide as i got the rattling noise again. I took it out, clean them and grease it with blue grease and the rattling noise is gone again. I did it on Wednesday at it's still running noise free. The last time i did it and the noise came back was after a very hot, long and high speed trip. The grease got thin out with the heat and got fling off from the high rpm :p

Oh yes, i did the clutch pin grease thingy and it's working fine till now. Vibration are much lesser, i guess it could be due to the excessive grease i pack into the spinning shaft area that got fling out onto the clutch bell that cause some vibration. If not for the overpack grease it'll be working fine.

Thanks again Juan for the tips :D

No worries, I am glad you were able to improve a bit the vibration when starting, mine is still doing well after the clutch manteinance (one month ago).

I had a similar experience with the stock U-shoes, they used to get stuck really easy but I have changed them for the Dr. Pulley which are self lubricated here is a link:

http://www.drpulley.info/shop/product_info.php?products_id=33

since I've installed them (1 year ago) the variator opens really easy.

The noise that it get with the Dr. Pulley rollers is very similar to the banging noise of this scooter:

Just popping to say hello.

I just left my DT with the mechanic, for the 3rd full service and asked them to do the valves clearance adjustment and I am getting a set of new tyres, the Michelin Power Pure SC also they are throwing in some dynabeads on them, first time I am using this stuff, anyone here with some experience with this?

Hi Juanpauk,

I'm looking to change to this Michelin or Diablo tires after my stock Kenda is out. Would you kindly give your review after using it? Thx in advance. :)

Cheers!

Oh. So this sound is caused by the Variator's rollers?? Parotae's scoot really sounds like this at idle.... I thought the problem was with the clutch!

Bought an M-sized full face helmet for my pillion and realized that with the helmet stored under the front underseat compartment, the seat can't close shut unless I slam it real hard.... Hmm....

And my Shad 45L box can't store 2 helmets too, no matter how I orientate the helmet. Darn! I think I may need to spend on a larger top box....

Suddenly the Downtown feels limited with the storage..... Sian.

Hi how is the power for the 125? Heard that need to rev to 7k rpm to move off n a little underpower. Pls advice asreally like the looks of this bike but if it is underpower then might consider again. Any idea when is the 200 version coming to sg?

Posted

The last I heard, no more DT125i coming in liao. Towkay bringing in DT200i which is stepped down from Taiwan's 205cc to 199.8cc to fit our Class 2B cc bracket.

To move off, my DT125i need to rev till 4000rpm. Top Speed 120kph. 0-60kph in 5-6s. 0-100kph in 15s. Cruise at 90kph at 7500rpm, 100kph at 8000rpm. 120kph at 10,000rpm. No red line on the tachometer though.

So far been to KL and back with my DT125i. Stock fuel consumption is 35km/L. Since I changed my tires to soft compound Metzeler, I got avg 30km/L. I've since changed to Pirelli, and it's now giving me 29km/L. Then again, I ride full throttle most of the time luh (especially when getting away from traffic lights and on expressways). If I ride within the speed limit, I should easily get at least 3km/L more.

Hope my thoughts on the scoot helps. Currently at 17,500km mileage. Already replaced my rollers, air filter and belt at 15,000km service.

Dynabeads very good stuff. Had experienced longer tires mileage. My previous bike of 120F and 190R lasted almost 27000km. Now I am using on myroad rear tires. I will put the remaining beads in the front new tires.

Thks for quick reply. So is this a good bike overall coz cannot make up my mind as to which bike to get. Initially was considering the daelim s3 when i chance upon downtown. Both were 125cc but after reading the reviews from ppl in this forum was a bit worried that these 2 bikes were a bit underpowered for a big size guy like me(near 100 kg 1.75 m tall). Was considering a maxi scoot but not many to choose from for class 2b. Considered piaggio x8 too liked the big storage space n legroom but the fc n maintance quite high coz italian n still using carb compared to fuel injection. So really in a dilema as to which bike to get. Downtown has got not much of a legroom space for a big guy like me. So any idea when is the 200cc coming to sg?

The Downtown 200cc supposed to come in October. But that was what I last heard 2 months ago luh. Dunno what's the situation now.

The Daelim S3 125 also not bad too =D Prefer the looks of it VS Downtown. But since Downtown is larger than S3, I should think it'll suit your body frame better?

I think I'll just stick to a normal black box? Afterall, my current Shad 45L is also black. I never put decal stickers on it. =D

Well like the looks of the s3 too n the keyless technology. But size wise agreed that downtown is much larger. Guess will have to wait for the 200cc to come then decide. Thks for advice.

I buy and cut key beside Regina(Lim Ah Boy brother's shop). They have the key for my downtown but not the haxagon keyhole lock thingy. Don't know if my key is the same as Xciting.
