I've finally gotten the CooCase V50 =D Can easily take 2 FF helmets and a set of torque ranch and solder and bike documents =D

But while I was at Chiap Lee, this Taiwanese couple came in. I spoke to them and asked them if Kymco is popular in Taiwan. They say they rather buy local assembled Yamaha scooters. Haha. Kymco not very reputable there it seems. I was quite discouraged. Haha. DT300i there going for S$8k. They call it Nikita there. They don't have the 125/ 200cc version.

Sad =(

Yup. The V50 looks ugly from the pics. But after seeing it in person, Whoa! Very nice! Better than the S48!

Just read from this website that Kymco in Taiwan are not supplying any parts to other workshop. If i read correctly :p

http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=267&t=2890020&p=1

Even owners can't buy parts direct. Please correct me if i am wrong.

The Taiwanese owners are debating why is this so.

Translation using google translate

Gwangyang has ordered a ban on the positive plant material center direct selling parts to car owners in the early hours.

Further ordered that, The heavy vehicle supplies parts and other things to prohibit the supply to non-contract dealers.

Gwangyang A Guangyang, you in the end in mind? Why is the benefit of a small number of stores, the expense of the welfare of the majority of users?

Maybe what the guy at the shop said was true lor. Ppl in Taiwan rather ride non-local brands. So sales for domestic brands have been declining. So now they control parts to earn / ketok the people there?? Haha.

Lots of Chinese will also tell u that who wouldn't wanna to be seen in an imported vehicle?? All about the image I guess...

From what I read, it says that they will stop supplying to those shops that do not have a dealership agreement with them. They will only supply to their authorised dealer. I could be wrong tho.

But if it's what I interpreted, then actually nothing wrong with it lor. Just like any other makes, our motortiam oso need to go thru them to get our parts right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Erm, don't be fooled by the presence of treads though. I couldn't stand the stock Maxxis tires. Changed it out at 3000km mileage. It was really horrible in the wet and even in the dry over road markings. I almost skidded in our Multi storey carpark even while riding slowly (I didn't experience such issues on the Metzeler and so far Pirelli), and while cornering in the wet (also a slow bend), I could feel the whole rear of the scoot skidding to one side =(

My Metzeler Feel Free was slated to last at least 15k km (some Silverwinger's rode it till over 20k km), but it lost its grip both wet and to a certain extent dry after 13.5k km of usage. A fellow SYM MaxSYM 400 rider can vouch for this too. He changed his FeelFree out at 7500km.... Haha. The Metzeler FeelFree has excellent grip both in dry and wet, but only till 7500-9000 km luh. Beyond that, it's gone back to the crap Maxxis tires feeling.

This set of Pirelli Diablo's has been great so far. But I don't think the tires will last long too, before it loses its excellent grip in corners and on wet.

So meaning pure power would be a good choice? Looking for rubbers now. .. my kenda tyres is bald. ..I enjoyed them while they lasted.. to date rode no more then 5 times in rain and I must say.. .its not too bad.. but I wanna get something with dual compound to last longer...I clocked less then 9k km I guess but botak already.

Yup. You may wanna try Pure Pure SC =D Cos I've also checked the price for Xciting tires with Pirelli Diablo Scooter, and it's $250-270 for both tires. Ouch!

Whoa! 9k km and bald tires already?? That's pretty bad. I guess you hardly ride in the rain huh?? It's been the raining season now, and even though I'll stop during heavy rain, I'll continue in light rain. A good set of tires really help.

Hi Juanpauk,

I'm looking to change to this Michelin or Diablo tires after my stock Kenda is out. Would you kindly give your review after using it? Thx in advance. :)

Cheers!

Hi Kongfu,

The tyres were installed last Friday , I am taking it easy for the first 100 miles. So far they feel fantastic when cornering. I will try to give a proper review once I can ride the bike normally.

Hi Juanpauk,

Thanks alot dude!

Doremi has mentioned that the dynabeads gives him longer mileage which is also what I'm after. A balance between performance and durability...that would be great.

Shall camp here to wait for your further review.

Well like the looks of the s3 too n the keyless technology. But size wise agreed that downtown is much larger. Guess will have to wait for the 200cc to come then decide. Thks for advice.

Spoke with the boss today. He says DT200i (199.8cc with 18-19bhp. The universal 205cc produces 21bhp) showroom unit coming in September. Full shipment coming in October. As this is a special engine only for Singapore's market, boss have to sell many many here to appease Kymco Taiwan. So there'll be 5 colors - Titanium, Silver, Dark Grey, Metallic Blue and Red. White is still pending.

Price will be $10k+ OTR including insurance. DT300i is touching $12k already all thanks to the above $2k COE price.

Basically, the main rival for the Downtown 200i is the SYM GTS/ JoyMax. But since the current look GTS200 (which is actually a 173cc and not 199cc) Carburetor engine) will be phased out for a new upcoming model (http://www.sym.com.tw/eng/showroom/index.php?mode=brand&tid=1&bid=69&PHPSESSID=0f1af4dd793bec29f91b81d9fdbcbaa2#spe), which will only have a 125cc Carburetor or FI engine, the competition will be heated up!

Not too sure if the Piaggio X10 125cc version will make its way here too.

The X10 125 and 350 models are coming, probably end of the year.

Then I'm looking forward to their pricing. If I'm not wrong, ADH is now promoting the XEVO 125??

X10 125 price is likely to be $10k OTR incld insurance.

X10 350 (330cc) is likely to be $14k OTR incld insurance.

(*Above prices are just speculative prices).

Confirm plus chop. However you must remember to maintain the tire pressure regularly
