@ Doremi - So after 9mths of riding the MyRoad, what is your honest opinion on this bike?

I'm currently riding a Kymco GD 250 and have been having my eye on the MyRoad.

I use to ride class 2 machines but age is catching up and so have gotten spoilt by the twist and go technology ever so readily available plus loads of space for grocery shopping and that odd tour up north.

Now the itch has returned to go class 2...

Very Very comfortable bike. So much so that my mileage is 23000. Bike is 10 months old only. By the time it hit 1 year old, mileage should be 25000. Most of the time, my wife will doze off. With a 45litres top box, alot of storage available.

Mine is the restricted power model. Only can do 170kph top speed. But that is enough for nshw already. Previous year model can do 190-200kph.

Lol. The only thing I still dont like is the engine sound.

I am looking to sell as I am planning to buy car. Medical problem, cant ride for some time.

Doremi, thanks for your feedback. Looks like its going be a challenge in deciding if I want to get the MyRoad or not...

Don't tell God you have a big problem. Tell the problem you have a big God!

Hi bros.. Need advice with my scooter shopping. Maybe this has been discussed before but too many pages here n ya me bit lazy to go thru all.. :-p. I'm now torn btw the downtown 300i n the xciting 300. I had a friendly chat with mr Herbert n he was very helpful. However he did not have a xciting there to show me n told me I had to wait till early next month to view 1.

Is the leg room better for the xciting? Any kind present xciting owners willing to have me take a look at their ride? Also realise the xciting is 270cc. Is the trade off worth it? There is only 1 dt 300 left.. If the xciting is not very worth it, I'd rather get the dt than to wait a month..

So bros what say u guys?

If you're riding a bike but not calculating the 50 possibilities in the 50 meters of road ahead of you, then you're dangerous and shouldnt be on one.

That's a huge windscreen.. Available in sg? I'd sure get 1 if I get the dt300. Any buffeting effect?

Xciting 300Ri can stretch leg. Downtown 300i cannot.

Xciting 270cc top speed 160kph (de-restricted), DownTown 300i tops 165kph (de-restricted). Factory fresh (aka brand new), these scoots are restricted to 140kph.

Wait for the Xciting 400i to come luh if you can wait. Haha. It's now on their Kymco Global website@ http://www.kymco.com

I believe it'll be in by Christmas (at least a showroom unit). But the price will definitely be more expensive than Xciting 300Ri luh - I estimate $14.5k OTR.

So can we de restrict it ourselves? I can't wait that long man.. I don wan 400cc as 300cc makes more economical sense for me. Don need too much power from the scoot for me..

Which Sym model are you looking at?

Not recommended to de-restrict. At least i can't do it. Need to have the required after-market exhaust "REMUS" which is not approved by LTA for the Downtown. DT3 comfortable cruising speed is 120km/h forever.

Top speed only for short duration. Ever hit 150km/h stock downhill, didn't go all the way as i still want to reach home with the scooter.

The windscreen is a Givi, (123€) so it must be also available in SG too, no buffeting problems....the only prob is more fuel consuming and lower top.

But I need this big screen since it's getting colder in Europe.

Haha I am just a Kymco freak, and I thought its maybe funny to show winter stuff to people located @ SEA,...although the thermoscud could be very handy during the moesson season.

De Maxxis tires had only hit the road for the first 3000km, but from the beginning I didn't like them.

b.t.w. Nice wheelstripe video.

Cheers,

Hi Kumar,

That was what I thought when I was getting the DT300 coz the Xciting is only 270cc.

I thought I could live with the sitting position on the DT300.

I would recommend that if your height is above 1.75m, to seriously consider the Xciting 300.

But then again if you are not rushing, you should wait until probably Dec when the Xciting 400 arrives.

Price difference shouldn't be drastic.

bro how are you? read that you been traveling a lot with your bike hur? i been wanting to go on a short trip to test out speed and performance. perhaps to desaru. Any plans? So far downtown has been quite a disappointment. Strong vibration, power lack pick up etc. worst of all is the riding posture. legs can't even stretch out. haiz. anyway, text me if u have a trip. I seldom log in.

I am very please with the reliability so far, no "major" hiccups yet. Been to KL, Lumut, Malacca, Kukup and more to come. shunoski will be the man to tell you about this scoot as he seems like a hard core tourer.

Minor hiccups for me like vibration moving off (got lesser or i got use to it ha ha), High fuel consumption (for me only), Steering cone beginning to get stuck in the center- don't know how to explain) other than that it's fine.

Power almost enough. Touring cruising 120km/h, scooter's comfort zone and peak torque @6500rpm. Full throttle (130km/h-140km/h) with pillion for extended period of time( more than half and hour) also no problem........"yet" :p. Engine still swee swee, no funny noises. Power still there. Feel better power now with Motul 300V. Yup, the oil really not over rated :thumb:

Only problem is parts can only get from agent. Then again, i'll rather go back to them since they will be more familiar with Kymco scooters. There's always the internet for after market parts like brake pads.

The best place to find out about Kymco is the Taiwanese forum. All the good bad are discuss over there. They are very knowledgeable in scooters.

Almost everyday, there will be a Downtow/nikita discussion.

Hi mates,

2 of my colleagues just rolled out brand new downtown 200i early this week and was apparently told that the bikes don't require any running in (boss says its BMW technology whatsoever). I'm abit skeptical on this cos my colleauges aren't really petrol heads, they just need transportation to and fro work. I'm afraid they might go all out and cause any damage to the brand new motor.

rien d'autre que le max.

Posted

Erm, the motor has actually been run in during the manufacturing process. So on our part, unless you're kiasu - Your mentality is die die must do 100-500km run in, then do what it makes you feel at ease lor. Haha.

But on my part, I don't run in the scoot - Immediately just ride per normal. So far no problems with my DT125i! It has been running smoothly for the past 21,000km!

Hi people~ I am currently riding a phantom and would like to change to the new Downtown 200I which look soooo good XD but something lame is on my mind, haha, the motor is huge that is for sure, will i be stuck in the middle of the vehicles during Jam XD lol.

any advice for a newbie like me? Like how long to change the oil or the strap or something, how long to do services, what petrol to use? Like shell 98 or Vpower and etc, all advice will be greatly appreciated ^^
