Have a dilemma!

It has come time to buy another bike for my Rider training business and ideally I would really like a CB400 ABS as it is the only ABS bike in this class in Australia, however I find myself reaching forward and my groin crushing into the tank, which is bearable for short trips but not so great when you ride all day for work.

Is it going to be practical for me to buy and modify this bike for comfort?

or should I buy the comfortable however lower spec non ABS gs500?

Next, where do I source the parts from?

I found this site for bar raisers

http://www.barrisersonline.com/forwardrisers78.html

might get some of these for the VTR250..

Also where do I get higher bars about 2-4 inches or more higher than stock?

Also will raising the bars cause other problems ie if they are further back they don't stick out so wide so if it falls over the tank/headlight is not protected, this is a factor as it is a learner bike. Perhaps someone can suggest where I get longer bar ends

And finally crash bars/bobbins and other bike protection what should I get and where should I get it from?

My main considerations for damage are learners practising slow turns.

2 out of the 3 riding schools in Singapore use the CB400 for learning. For training purposes, it is NOT advisable to use ABS models as the trainees will eventually have to depend on ABS and might feel lost or unable to control the braking properly without ABS.

well, not sure about training perspective in ozzie... but CB400 is quite comfortable bike.

been on CB400 saddle for long hours on trips without complain... (palmer can highlight for his thailand trip)

if u want to raise the handle bar, o another alternative is to change the scrambler bars with longer risers (wider and nearer to rider)

Well so far have found these schmicko risers below which leads on to how easy is it to get longer cables electricals to suit the 3-4 inch rise I want?

It is quite interesting the varieties of riser available I liked these though as I can run a modified crash bar through the original steering mount so my tank doesn't get lunched if it falls.

PS: The reason I want ABS is I want my students to pass the controlled braking tests as safely and easily as possible, only get 1 chance during test on public roads any weather....if lockup tyre even slightly some Examiners will fail them...may have to wait months and pay more money and take time off work... they all know how to brake from using my other bikes and are trained to become proficient on any bike they ride.
