One is a fully synthetic man made oil the other combines natural oil with synthetic man made oil, hence semi-synthetic.

Synthetic is considered to be more "pure" and lubricates slightly better for slightly longer, most benefit seen in high intensity application such as tuned engines and racing.

lubricate better? u mean something to do with the vicosity? doesnt it means the same for the grade? haha, its really confusing..

I always go to a mechanic whenever there is major thing to do on a bike. Easy things like engine oil, plugs, just make sure u go a shop which the mechanic is familiar with the fairing and doesnt spoil your fairing can already.

The reason is, trust. I dont trust any motordiam's mechanic. So I dont save on the labour when it comes to major things to do like clutch plates, tuning, and fork and rear shock servicing, brakes line and pads and brake pistons. A sports bike most important is fork, rear shock and brakes. These things I always go to him.

Imagine u spend so much service, later not done properly, then jialat.

U need me to reccomend?

That shop not only need to spend more $ but also need to spend more time. I always leave my bike there 3-5 days. Becos the boss so himself. He is experience rider and mechanics for 30+ years. So sometime the queue is super long even when he is charging so ex.

hi guys, what EO do u guys recommend and plugs? and after how long den u all service? 3k ? 5?(mileage)

and btw EO need 3 or 4 bottles? sry just got my bike few days ago only

:help:

I reccomend normal plugs.

Engine oil different depend on whether u change oil filter and whether it is just overhauled.

If I never remember wrongly, Hurrican NC23 never change oil filter is 3.1 liter, change oil filter is 3.2 liter, assembly or after overhaul is 3.4 liter.

Fireblade is 3.2 liter if never change oil filter, 3.4 if change oil filter, 3.6 if assembly or overhaul.

Check haynes. I forgot already. All I know is its more than 3 liters but less than 4 liters. So always get the extra bottle back so that next servicing can bring to top the extra. Or just ask the boss give the few hundred ml free or charge u pro-rate.

So far, most shop charge me 3 liters only. The extra they give free.

Its every 6000k change engine oil. Or when u feel engine a bit rough after 4-5k. Spark plug u can change like every 3 engine oil change or change when they spoil. One spoil still got 3 left. Can ride to bike shop and change the spoilt one.

guys i got a question..

went to the mech cos every gear my rpm will get stuck at around 5 and after awhile of stuck-ing(no power) den my rpm goes up smoothly

mech got my carb out and there are 4 needles which he told m,e the previous owner has got it and it is not stock..

why does my rpm get stuck at 5? :help:

If it stuck at lower rpm like lost of power, then suddenly rpm shoot up. It could be clutch plates wear off already. I also experience this when my clutch plate abt to go. At first is above 5-6k, when want to accelerate suddenly and trottle a lot, it will hesistate for half a second then shoot up. Then after more use, it occur more frequently especially upslope when u need the power and when u accelerate more.

If more serious, ur clutch plate will slip often and result in higher rpm then normal to travel at certain speed. For example. 100km/h is normally 6k, and 4k is normally 70km/h. I have a ultimate friend riding cbr400rrR advice him to change, he dont want, wait until 100km/h he need to use 7k at rpm then he go change. At times, up slope with passenger, the biting point took very long after fully releasing off the clutch lever and seems very powerless. He buy the bike the previous owner never change clutch plates, but its not very noticible at initial stage, only when it start to wear more, then sytoms will come.

If not these problem, maybe is caburettor compression lever not synchronised. So sometimes, one or two caberretor push in more petrol than the other and result in lack in power, then when all feed in as much, the sudden surge in power come. But usually this only happen when at biting point moving off from rest or changing gear, where u closed trottle and re trottle again.

U try everytime, sudden squeeze trottle accelerate, if the rpm stuck a while, then shoot up later and your bike surge, it should be clutch plate. Check with previous owner how long ago he changed them. That should cost $140-150.

any1 here have install the revtec(impedence stabilser) device on yr CBR400?

Voltage stabiliser?

I got it on my car with 8 points grounding also...hehe.

It only improve low end torque (car park speed 1st and 2nd gear) and less vibration for the car (smoothness) when idling.

I use Silkolene EO fully syn - $20 per bottle

semi syn cost $18

Change EO roughly between 3-5k.

If jus changing the EO, 3 bottles is enough. Change the oil filter then u'll need to pay for 4 bottles when u actually only use 3.++ litres. Keep the remaining so tat the next time u change the filter again u no need to get 4 bottles.

(Don keep the first unfinish EO till the next changing of filter. Hope u know wat i mean. )

Normally happens when someone has tried to bypass the speed restrictor and done a crap job. Take it to a mechanic who is familiar with the CBR400RR and derestriction methods and they should be able to fix it for you. Porbably some wiring come lose or got bad contacts where they have bypassed the restrictor in the speedo.

I going for carb wash and tuning. Anyone has any reccomendation where to go?

How long it takes? MOrning go, afternoon can finish?

I used to go to my regular mechanic, but his always long queue. This time I lazy to go to him.

My idling is not very smooth, think the compression out of tune, the 4 carb fires off at difference timing. So need to tune.

either your chain and sprocket gone liao.. eg.. your sprocket teeth gap becomes a V sign instead of U.. or either chain is too tight.. or just spray just chain lube cause too dry.. you hope that it's the latter one.. lol
