aniware to rec for me to change it?

Go Planet, cheap and good (the catch? There's a queue!). Or Bikeworkz, run by Joseph and his ex Planet mech Ah Beng. Both shops' reputation are known to be very steady, tackle only your problem and won't ask you to change unnecessary parts.

Avoid 'cheap' shops with lots of bad comments posted all over SBF. Cheap but don't solve problem also end up more ex, this is especially so for older bikes.

My speedometer will twitch sometimes (meaning the needle is like trembling, clockwise and anti-clockwise), for about 1 or 2 seconds then it will stop or the twitching momentum will reduce.

e.g. from 155 km/h go to 175 km/h, then go back to 155 km/h, and then to 175 km/h and so on in a very fast motion until it eventually stops.

Is this normal because the bike is old already or there is a problem with my bike?

Hi regarding your prob with the meter, i know its kinda irritating to see your speedo twitch when you jus wanted to test your top end. Its just that your speedo has run out of tune for its age....

I had similar encounters when my speed was nearing 160km/h.....

I tried replacing the speedo cable. the white washer at the spocked end(front), But stil din't help.

Finally i decided to replace my whole speedo. Just the speedo. THEN....

It solved the prob. my needle on speedo states a very clear speed reading even way thru the 180km/h mark.

Another reason for me to change the speedo, the surface of my old speedo has a melted waxing causing the display to be unclear.

Price of speedo $160. Chong aik. Install DIY.

Not really something wrong with your bike... mayb cos your spocket size may differ, cold be the work of prev owner, for better acceleration change bigger front spocket.... Mayb.

Might be the case of previous owner downsize spocket.

Stock should be 15 front / 39 behind

Front down one size = Back up Three Size

but may not b v acuurate...

usually digi meter for big bikes are specially calibrated for each make and engine displacement. esp those sensor operated. Unless using speedo cable.

i ve tried a few aft market digi speedo, using cable. BUT never big bike's speedo...

So far good. You may wanna try KOSO

i see.. i have such an idea bcos it's very hard to find digital speedo integrated with analogue tacho. a few pages back someone was asked a supplier in the states that if he was getting 10 pieces of the unit, what's the cost. reply was US$200 excluding installation of cos. after that, there were no updates on the speedo/tacho unit liao.

there's a trail tech unit which is digital speedo and tacho. but the bar graph for the tacho reaches only 12k rpm.. it is readable until 20k rpm but only in numerical form which i think is very hard to read.

i'll ask my bikeshop when i drop by one of these days. :cheeky:
