I'm riding CBR400RRN, and i discover that us N models tend to drink up petrol a little faster than the R models. One more thing to keep in mind is how often do you pump your petrol. the longer the interval between each visit to the petrol kiosk, the lesser the distance you can cover with each full tank. This is simply due to evaporation. Our tank is not really air tight, and petrol still manage to evaporate out. so let's say you pump petrol once a week, your total distance covered will be lesser than a guy who pumps once a week because your petrol has 7 days to slowly evaporate while the guy who pumps once a week maximises the utility of his petrol solely in the combustion in the engine, in other words less petrol evaporates in one day so he has more petrol to burn and can cover a greater distance.

Usually 260km+- travelled on an average, once hit 292km furtherest

b4 hiting the reserve. Too shock to believe myself.

Express way 90-110km/h avg.

Normal road 70km/h avg.

Shell 98 $17.50 max full tank(70%Reserved being used)

Btw i m using broquet, 02 x packs.

Cheers....Relax riding k.

I have sold my cbr to new buyer already.

See how much he can tahan with a full tank b4 reserve. My normal is 330km before touching reserve and have tried 360km before hitting reserve b4 after putting the 2 broquet fuel catalyst pack. When I hit 360km, I rode until 406km (using reserve) to pelangi Esso and by the time reach there still got few hundred mls of petrol left.

Regarding the leaking of petrol, thats normal. Our bike if pump too full when straighten, the excess will flow to the area inside the tank outside the circle hole. Those will go to the breathing tube. The breathing tube is there to allow air to go into the tank so that air go in then petrol can flow out from fuel tank into the fuel pump. The exit of the breathing tube is at the right leg or left leg at the leg there where there is 2-3 black rubber tube under a black metallic.

After the excess flow out, it will stop, no worry. So pump toofull fuel also will flow out.

I sit on my friend's cbr400rrN as pillion. I discover his riding style is very difference from me. For me, I am more relax on trottle. I dont drag engine as much as he did. He is getting abt 280-290km before reserve tank.

Example 1:

when reaching the traffic conggested area, he will drop to lower gear (3-4) and drag the gear while squeeing and once he close trottle, engine brake is stronger and I would say its a safer way compared to mine. Also his style, if he step brake, when going off, he dont need to drop gear becos gear already quite low.

Mine style when squeezing thru traffic, I usually maintain a higher gear(4-5) such that when I trottle, the bike wouldnt be as noisy and if suddenly close trottle, not much engine brake and stepping of brake, I will have to down gear becos gear too high for the speed.

Example 2:

Also when travelling, when I reach 5k, I will change gear, he will drag until 6k and maintain rpm at 6k constantly for a while b4 change. Sounds more draggy than mine. Mine is changed to upper gear everytime the speed allows and it wouldnt wobble.

The above 2 may account for the difference in our fuel consumption assuming our bike is tuned the same way. I will be borrowing his bike to ride for half a year while he go for oversea IA if he cannot sell. If I ride his bike, I will be able to show whether its my riding stlye that save petrol or my cbr400 tuning that save petrol.

cant be help....no money for cls 2 bike cause of family comitment.thats y i tink wanna do up my bike nice2....getting 2a bike real soon...so how?any feedback on me getting cbr?issit reccomended 4 long term use? or rvf or s4 is better 4 long term?pls help....

For long term, I recommend cbr400 or super 4.

For more fun, buy cbr400.

Fuel Consumption is the same for super 4 and cbr400. RVF is v-twin engine, the FC will be higher.

For Super 4, the maintenance is easier, no need scare fairing spoilt or scratch. And its naked bike, so cleaning will be easier. The maintenance of RVF will also be higher bcos of its vtwin technology, u need to use better plugs abt 18 bucks per piece. CBR400 and super 4 only 10 bucks per piece.

But for long distance touring if u do go, buy cbr400 better, CBR400 top speed is higher than RVF and Super 4. More ease of travel at high speed. CBR400 170-180km/h constant no problem becos I tested and proven myself. Super 4 will be quite strained when travelling so high speed and the position upright, wind resistance not very comfortable at high speed.

RVF have a benefit both super 4 and cbr400 cannot beat. Its the smoothness at low speed. CBR400 acceleration for 1st gear is the worst among 3. But 2nd gear onwards, it can catch up. Super 4 acceleration 1st gear not bad, only high end speed not there. RVF 1st gear acceleration is smooth and power, but high end speed not as high as cbr400.

I do understand that too much petrol will result in overflow. but why is it so that when my bike is in upstraight position, it doesn't leak? only leak when my bike is tilted. so can i say that theres something wrong with the rubber stopper?

When u pump to full, actually when u close the cap, the cap is very thick if u notice, some petrol will be displace out. Then when u tilt bike, the petrol flow out lo...

Normal NGK plugs.

$10 one.

Careful of imitation. I only change in reliable shop.

My friend change his plugs in Comb*** Motors. Then he went KL, bike took train back to singapore. Went to another bike shop service, reliable one, the mechanic said the plugs are immitation one, each piece only $6 in the market. So change the plugs again.

I only service my bike with Gopa, reliable, but ex. Have to leave bike there also most of the time for 2-3 days. But I dont mind the extra $, bcos I believe what I spend on the bike, I will get return from its safety and reliability.

Weight do make a difference when u frequently accelerate and u accelerate hard.

Becos the inertia greater and need more power to overpower.

You can save petrol by accelerating lightly. Meaning, dont trottle fast, slowly gradually open. Then use higher gear whenever possible, dont drag lower gear. Changer higher gear once speed reach and woulnt vibrate.

Ride relaxly.
