2 types of coolant r usually used in radiators:

ethylene glycol based coolant or water based coolant

 

ethylene glycol based coolant

pros:

less prone to rusting and mineral scaling (compared to water)

higher boiling point (does not freeze in cold weather)

cons:

more expensive (compared to water)

poorer conductor of heat (compared to water)

 

water based coolant is quite the reverse of the above.

but, freezing in cold weather - not our concern

prone to rusting and mineral scaling - job of the addictives (ww and cool-aide) to control

(having said that, our tap water are pretty 'soft'. they r already quite resilient to rusting and scaling. distilled water is even more soft)

u cut and paste or u rephase on yr own..

cos boiling point of the coolant dun determine the temp for freezing.. is the melting/freeze point.. boiling point is to determined how well the coolant can hand high temp.. liquid state tranfer heat better than gas state.

coolant means the medium that tranfers the heat away

water based coolant means coolant(water) wif additive and without glycol.. not water based coolant is prone to rusting..

was wondering....i went to the bike shops in tampines n ubi area but couldn't find cbr 400 repsol design like the one below. ive seen quite a few on the roads but not sure where they got it from. is it they do paint work on the bike or buy from one shop?
