i'm actually waiting very patiently for aviva to accept bike insurances!

Hi, can anyone help me here?

 

Yesterday, I swerved recklessly into another lane, and a car hit my bike. The car was probably going at 60-70 km/h, although I am not too sure. Anyway, it brushed my bike, causing it to drop. I was not injured though.

 

The unfortunate thing though was that the other car appeared to have been scratched, maybe about 3cm x 1cm. It is quite a big high-end car. The driver subsequently went to a workshop, and claimed to me that the repair costs amounted to more than $2000. Apparently, there was a "hole".

 

What should I do? I don't think I am able to settle the amount privately. Should I call my insurance company? Will the insurance company pay the full amount on my behalf, or do I have to pay too? (I have been riding for abt 1.5 years, after I got my riding license.)

hi arctic, u should consult your insurance company on e steps you should do next. from my experience, you are required to make a police report and give them a photocopy of it. you can also get e insurance company to engage a lawyer for u. it all really depends on your coverage whether its 3rd party only or fire and theft etc.

 

anyway, worst comes to worst it will be claimed through your insurance and your next insurance premium will be higher but if this case u can really win, den let e lawyers do e talking. u dun even need to pay anyting. dats y u have insurance.

The refund is ridiculous..I wanted to refund my 1 month old insurance as I sold the bike, $75 admin charge and the insurance are only $200 to start with in the end not much back, yes is cheaper then NTUC by $20-30. Well first and last time for me to use AXA. I like changing bike, 2 bikes every year on the average....

so far my experience best is msig.

 

for example, owner of bike is 30yrs old, ins from 01 Jan 2010 to 31 dec 2010

to add name rider of age 40yr old on 01 june 2010 the charges :

 

msig charge abt $25

allainz charge avg $65 for add name driver

ntuc charge abt $40

axa charge abt $75

 

these are just an estimation from my experience.

and this are if u go direct to underwriting company/agent.

 

IF U GO BIKE SHOP TO DO IT, MOST IF NOT ALL WILL CHARGE U ADDITIONAL ADMIN FEE!!!

Insurance Claim and Towing. The other day my bike got rear ended by a car. Lucky i call this towing company Towbroz. The y do 24hrs Towing 90608860. The guy quite helpful. He help to tow plus his company did the whole claim process for me. I did not have to pay anything to repair as the settle for me first and will settle the claim for me. FYI really good service and really helpful. Another thing, they also tow up to malaysia and thailand. The guy was saying he does alot of weekend tow from Sepang also. Thanks Towbroz.

The LTA actually maintain a website of insurers for Motorbikes.

 

However, don't get too excited - it's hopelessly badly maintained and three out of four companies listed don't offer bike insurance at all, some (e.g. AXA) only insure up to 400cc, and so on. I contacted the LTA today, and they do provide a contact point for corrections to this site: onemotoring@portalcity.com.sg. I'll be trying it out to see whether the updates I suggest (i.e. delete 75% of the names from the list!) are actually taken on board. Will report back.

 

Motorcycle insurance here in Singapore is a virtual monopoly - that's why it's twice the price of the UK and other European countries. NTUC head this monopoly, generally by being the most "competitive".

that is cheap for a spark already, remember if you have no claims for the insured year, next year NCD and even cheaper.

Comprehensive is it can claim if others bang you? 3rd party only when others claim you, but you cant claim others? But if you are not at fault, can claim others' 3rd party who bang you?
