What I know is that there is no law that states that it is illegal, but if you do it, you are not going to get pulled over unless you pillion with it. For cars, it is not illegal to remove your rear seats or to fold them down, but you cannot have passengers there when you do so.

any modifications to the bike is considered illegal. stock bikes with stock 1 seater options like the 06 r6 are legal whereelse a custom molded fairing does not comform to safety standards. i do not know what kind of safety standards but from what i read in here a few months back, our stock fairings do not shatter upon impact unlike some shops which offer cheap plastic alternatives. please do correct me if i am wrong

What you read in here a few months back probably has no more credibility that what you are reading in here now. Somebody need to contact LTA to ask. What I recall is, somebody emailed LTA some time ago and te reply was that you can have a single-seater molded fairing, as long as it can hold the tailights, turn signals, mudguard and license plate at the legal position.

 

I don't think there is a safety standard for fairing. There is only fluid retention requirement for race fairings to contain oil or coolant leaks so that the track doesn't get slippery. How "well-made" do you think those LAB fairings are anyway?

 

There are actually many legal modifications you can do. "Any modification to the bike is considered illegal" is not true. Check out the One Motoring website.
