lets share something which i ever posted before...

for all Non VTEC and Hyper VTEC aka Spec 1 bikes, which are the FR platers and before, the whole bike is running on 12volts. but for Hyper VTEC, FS platers and newer models, the bike is running on 12 volts and 8 volts.

now talk about the alarm system... when u click on the remote start function on ur remote, the alarm unit will send out a signal (which is a 12 volts supply). this 12 volts supply is suppose to over ride the bike's ignition when connected to ur bike.

for all Non VTEC and Hyper VTEC FR platers, these bikes are running on fully 12 volts, and hence the remote function can be used on these bike without any problem. but for Hyper VTEC, FS platers and newer models, the meter assy of these bikes are running on only 8 volts which, the alarm unit does not supply. so, when u try to install the remote function on the bike, the signal (12 volts) might "burn" your bike's CDI.

its not tat the remote function is no good. its jus tat not all bikes can install the remote function due to the above stated. and also not forgetting that the newer bike with H.I.S.S. Technology will not allow your bike to crank start due to the memory chip of the OEM key is not at your ignition area.

remote start is good for morning cold start to warm up ur bike before any journey. and when you use remote start, the charging voltage will be lower as the charging voltage will go through the alarm unit before going to your battery. tats why everytime when i reach my bike after warming up, i'll kill the ignition with my remote and start my bike again normally with the key so the charging will be at its normal charging voltage.

the above are my 2 tiny, winy cents. if im wrong in anyway, feel free to comment.

last but not the least, i am riding a Honda CB400 Hyper VTEC, FR plate with remote ignition. the thread started should know about this...

safe riding to all!

safe riding to all!

thanks .. so meaning if my bike is 12volt i can use e remote starT?

He stated is the bike METER ASSEMBLY (which also have the ignition) which is 8 volt so 12 volt direct will be a direct kill.

He is correct in what he has to say... but when he say when the voltage input is 12 volt and there is no memory chip, the bike can be install the remote start. I quite disagree.

Here is the reason:

1. True with the technology these day, with all the micro-chip , installation of the remote start is very difficult ( but not impossible) how they do it i do not know, But i have seen 1 or 2 bike remote start with the so call micro-chip key but in order for them to ride, the key MUST be in before they ride. I believe u have also seen cars esp those expensive sports car (which should have a higher technology) install remote start, impressing their girls :D, in the end of the day how they do it, I cannot comment.

2. Having a 12 volt does not means the current supplied thru' out the bike is the same. There are different resistance in the bike, these resistance will reduce the current input to start your bike.

Ever though why the fuse in your bike some are red some are blue and some are yellow. they are different rating for the different parts i.e 1AMP fuse.

But wat i mean is that by installing the remote alarm, during the remote start, the bike will need to draw a greater current in order to start the bike, and this greater current will burn the CDI, COIL, Recifier waitever it is.

Farther more this current is not protect thru the fuse (most mach will not install spare fuse as they do not know how much current will the alarm will be drawing in order to start i.e different alarm different amount of current they draw to start the bike ) so a lot of initial current is use to start the bike, this will cause the burnt of the above thing. Also it will degrade your battery faster.

Above is base on what i know, learn, applied. If there is any mistake feel free to point out... we all are here to learn :D
