Any idea where I can check out the RD32ii and Contour Roam 2 locally, and especially the kind of mounting that is available for both? Would like to physically check the mounting with my helmet before I commit to anything. Right now my shortlist is down to these 2 and the GoPro Hero 3.

Went to a shop near my workplace that sells the gopro. As discussed, the price is fixed at $599 for Hero 3 Black edition. I am seriously tempted... but it will take time to save up the money, so must wait :(

if you interested, my fren is able to get at $570. :)

I have decided to get contour roam 2 but bros that wanna to get Gopro Hero 3 can try outdoorsportstravel.com.sg. I chance upon this web site while checking for cam. The price appear to be not bad . Btw I am not related to them.

These are the guys who have a retail outlet close to my office... I checked the shopping cart, turns out the price is without GST. Add GST and it comes back up to $599 :(

Actually my primary concern right now is the mounting. And for that I would prefer to look at the mounting in person and see how well it fits withing my constraints. I know they have a variety of mounts, but my needs are quite specific

- must be able to mount along the centre line of a flip up helmet (not left or right)

- must not get in the way of visor when chin bar is up

- must be able to get a clear view forward from this mounting point.

Most of the reviews I have seen have the camera mounted on the side or on helmets with no visor... tried looking for a review of all the mounting options, but couldn't find anything.... :(

Yeah. I called up the main distributor and asked if we could get a discount for ordering multiple sets, he pretty much said No. Looks like no choice... with GoPro, it's their way or the highway :(

Anybody here already using a Contour Roam 2? Can I meet up and kaypoh a bit?

One thing I don't like about Gropro is that there is no loop function, so on long rides, memory card full means stop filming. :(

And because definition is high, the memory card very fast used up, and when download, it's 1 very very big file. Often, 1 video 3-4 Gig. :faint:

nt sure about the older ones but my Hero 3 has looping function. the file is also broken down into 2GB chunks. memory oso not that big. my 32GB ard can hold 4.5 hrs of 1080P footage.

Yap, Gopro3 has looping function included. Gopro to me is great but 1 main reason why i still haven bought one is because gopro don't have rotatable len and all the extra money i need spend. If like say they have it in gopro4, teehee.

Hey, looks like Contour has the kind of mount for my needs after all : http://store.contour.com/ae/international/mounts/360-helmet-mount/invt/3570/&bklist=icat,4,shop,products,mounts&bklist=icat,4,shop,products,mounts

http://store.contour.com/content/ebiz/shop/invt/3570/3570_lalt3.jpg

But here's the thing... the Contour Roam2 doesn't have a wireless preview function. The Contour+2 has the preview, but then price the same as GoPro Hero 3 Black, which comes with much higher resolution. One thing in favour of Contour is the shape - the cylinder is definitely much sleeker than GoPro's boxy shape.

So I'm down to this : Get a Contour Roam2, manage without the wireless preview, use trial and error to get the angle right, and hope it stays that way. Save money .... OR .... spend the extra, get a Hero3, put up with clunky looks for reputed performance, higher resolution and (hopefully) better low light performance.

Urgh... I wish I was better at making quick decisions :giddy:

dont worry. u are not alone! hahaha. yup contour definitely cleaner in its looks. by the way, the contour has the laser built in to help u align ur view. so its not too bad. u can still get at good estimate of the camera's angle.
