SOS!! Been Caught when riding Wife's bike w/o Insurence

We went to vivocity and watching midnight movie last night, caught by TP on the way back near vivocity. The bike was registed on my wife's name and the insurence is under her name. She was pillion when caught. Anyone know what is the consequences? The TP say we both will be summon by caught and may have our licenses revoked for 1 yr+1k fine. Is that true?

We both have Class 2B+3 license, and we have car and motobike. if revoke both, we both cant drive car or ride anymore?

 

We really dont know Motobike insurance is different with cars. cant motobike insure the bike owner enough? The insurance is made by the 2nd hand motorbike dealer and he just pass us the insurance paper. We never know such offend is soooo serious. How come such serious offend never been taught by driving school or never shown in the theory book? We told the TP we dont know,even beg him, but no use.. can only wait for summon...

unlike the car, only the insured 1 can ride the bike. unless, you registered the bike under a company and take up the "any rider" policy.

 

as for whether will your 2b license be revoke or even your class 3, i wish i can ans that, but i really don't know, so i don't want to give you any false hope. but i believe, it should be on a case by case basis.

 

but riding without insurance should be a court case, so a fine should be pretty much expected.

Try to appeal on court and to the judge. Hopefully, the judge allow u to keep ur class3 license n only suspensed ur class2b license.

1 piece of paper only, best to always have it with you when u ride.

 

anyway add a sub rider not totally free also. need to pay a small amount of admin fee. but if the riding experiences between the 2 varies too much, i think need to add more also. but like you say, it's too late now.

lawfully, i think she will be. but then i think the judge will also ask why are u the one riding when it's ur wife name on the insurance. think of some superb reason and maybe can improve the situation slightly?

this should not be a valid reason at all. even if u use it once a year, you still have to be insure to use it. and i think the judge will tell you it's your responsibility to find out, not his to tell you.

ur offence shd be more serious, cos u riding w/o valid insurance.

 

find a good reason to appeal to lessen the charges. u will not get off the hook, but ur wife may. i say may only cos chances are slim...

 

if u hav the moola, hire a good lawyer to fight for both of u. else, be like the rest of us, suck thumb.

 

i know this offence is straight kantong for both of you plus fine in court.

 

go meet ur MP, hopefully, if he can get it "off" going to the court, then u hav good chance of keeping ur license intact. though not very likely to get off the hook, a try is always better then no try rite?

.... Getting yourself in trouble like that is not worth it. Just add a sub rider name inside the insurance will save u so much trouble.. Just appeal when the summon come. Hope for the worst to be mininum then..... A fine is the lightest i guess .. Cross ur finger

She will be involve bro...especially if she is the pillion...if not at least can say u borrowed bike without her knowledge...

Seen so many cases like this....revoke of all license is a high probability...so sorry for u bro...no harm appealing though

if "borrow" bike without her knowledge, then ts can be liable to be charge for vehicle thefts?

And if appealing, don't say she is drunk, sleepy, not feeling well etc. is the reason why u're riding. The fine will be higher as u not suppose to pillion anyone not "fit" to sit on the bike even as a pillion....

Agreed....lawyer is the way, but if u intend to save ur licence. To lower down fine only is not worth as the amount that u may save is lesser than the amount u need 2 pay the lawyer.....

Dude,

You will be charged with riding/driving without valid insurance cover. Your wife will be charged with Abetment, where the penalty is the same.

 

You need to have a stupendously good reason to get out of this. Once you receive the summons from TP, try appealing through your MP. Hopefully, either you or your wife can at least salvage 1 licence. But do note that this offence is rather serious. Bike insurance is different from car as the liabilities & risks are different. Also, the premiums will differ with the addition of a less experienced or younger authorised rider (or sub-rider).

Aiyo ... Riding after midnight is the most critical time for riding without license , drink driving , illegal modifications and stuff ... Coz road blocks will pounce on u any corner .. But what happend has oledi been done so put on ya thinkin cap and appeal .. Mite help a lil ..

I don't know when you got your licence but when I got mine, the instructor took pains to emphasise that we must get insurance coverage in our name to ride or risk licence kena kantong.

 

This is a serious offence, as bad as riding without licence. Good luck to you.

My time too.. Just got my CL2 and they keep emphasising the dun ride without insurance part.. even 7 yrs ago when i got my 2b they did emphasise as well..

coz ur case quite peculiar in that u guys ride very rarely and benefit of the doubt is that u tot its same as car.

 

if u can show that u got ur bike license long ago and thus only inevitable to forget, maybe can create a soft spot.

 

not sure will they kantong all or just bike. If ur livelihood depends on car license, can appeal for car license to be spared ba/ suspension only, which is still better than kantong?

 

side note: 1 person kantong better than 2 person kantong. worse come worse u take it, ur wife's license still might be saved.
