Helmetboy.com has a few selection as well. I think they offer door to door delivery as well.

I was browsing online and It was an oversea website and I saw some very nice full face for about 70 USD, is it recommended ?? Cause I am not sure if it safety approved

Never bought any full face helmet before. But I think for safety requirements, a DOT approval is as good as the SISIR approval in Singapore. Street legality wise, I think LTA will still say its illegal unless its sisir approved.

But what if we don't fullfill the lta requirement and just wear the helm, is it okay ??

The golden statement in Singapore

"You can do anything, but don't get caught".

The fine isn't too heavy anyway, I thinks its a composition fee of $30 if you pay before court, and if you don't pay before court, the fine is $200.

Drivers and pillion riders of motor cycles to wear protective helmets

(2) No person shall import, sell or offer for sale or have in his possession for sale any protective helmet which is not of a type approved by the Minister.

(3) Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $200.

(4) Any person who contravenes subsection (2) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $500 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months and, in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.

I know I have been annoying, but I still have a lot of questions I need to ask about phantom bikes.

Does phantom have a reserve tab ?? Or once the light turns up means is in reserve ??

I seriously need help !! My phantom is abit weird, previously I say that my phantom can go for 24km/l.

Suggestion was to wash carburetor and change air filter.

I have done all those, but still, my phantom is running at 26km/l..

Any more service I need to do ??

If you have a reserve light, it means your TA200 is the newer version. Hence there is no reserve tab unlike the older version which one will only know hitting reserve by the sudden lose of power (engine spluttering).

Have you send your machine to a mechanic to check the sprocket size?

The last time my phantom lost power is the clutch wore out. It burnt when it was open out.

anyone knows how much to service the front caliper in shop? Probably need a cleaning and some greasing. The piston is not backing fully and rubbing the disc a bit. I have recently changed brake fluid, I guess it is probably dirty from the brake dust.

How much for the entire caliper?

front caliphers can be repaired. The entire set costs 100plus, can't remember exactly but i think should be in the region of $140 onwards. Tomorrow if i go planet change choke cable i help you ask ah chong. BUt if its just dirty, cleaning and servicing it is much cheaper than replacing it. Like the old saying goes, don't "change" anything that is not broken. "Motor, Motor, yue mo yue duo" - chinese saying about motor

thanks, My prices all agar aga. I was thinking if washing cost 35, I might as well wash it myself, save the money and the next time it acts up, change it if the caliper cost 60 - 70 plus. I am looking for the brake cleaner. just a thought lah

talking about choke, my bike if i pull the choke worst, cannot start.

cleaning is rather complex. I saw my mech clean once (mine own, previous phantom). beside dismantling it from the fork (which is the easy part), you will need to have access to dremel/ proxxon with steel wire brushes so as to reach the internal parts (near the pistons). If your caliphers are very dirty and jams, you need a heavy vice to be able to whack the jammed parts out. And you need also to be careful not to scar the calipher too much else you might not be able to fix it back.

I ever did my calipers. Change the seals, cleaned up the insides, polish the pistons. Just bought a special tool to remove the pistons, but u can also remove it by pumping ur brakes till they drop out.

IIRC, the set of seals and rubber boots set me back abt $30+

And btw, u can get brake cleaner from autobacs, but dont spray directly at the pistons as it may damage and swell the seals.

Naim, I think you can become a Phantom mechanic liao - self repair carb, self clean brake caliphers... hahaha. Can you do top servicing yourself also?

Just kidding. I think you are very capable, I'm rather fearful of taking apart things sometimes, I broke a old watch, and shorted PCs in my journey of DIY. Oh and did I mention? I shorted my Phantom fuse in the midst of correcting the wiring on my voltmeter...miles away from my own home carpark and at about 9pm in the night... talk about a double whammy...

Haha im no expert either. I learnt through alot, and i mean ALOT of trial and error to get this to this stage. Its just my preference to do things right, and the only way to do a proper job, is to DIY. U can be as meticulous and picky as you want, and not ending up leaving the bikeshop unsatisfied with the work done.

I didnt know you could pump until they drop out. The seals already 30, then the whole new caliper assembly would be steep.

Iagree that the only way to have a peace of mind is to diy. Some mechanic bo chup or are too plain lazy. autobacs ok thanks, I went mustafa, didnt see. Maybe should go LAB.

Naim, I have to disagree. I can be very meticulous and picky, but i am really clumsy with my hands and lack spatial orientation skills. I end up breaking things first (then buying another set) before finally fixing them back..hahaha. In this aspect, I always buy more than one set of parts when I want to DIY (for example, I bought 10 fuses to replace one, cheap anyway, and 20 end lugs and 5m of heat shrink, when all i needed was 4 end lugs and less than 1m of heat shrink).

Even for simple things like bolts and nuts. I always make sure I have 100% spare. But I guess I can't be buying 2 sets of seals as spare to service the caliphers myself, or even worse - 1 extra set of caliphers.

Yup, naim is very knowledgable bout phantoms, I seeked his advise before deciding to get a phantom bike because I was thinking getting another bike and after that still have to ask him about the bike and its problems.

I too like to have spares and lots of them :)
