if i jam brake hard (just top to full tank), then got some petrol leak from the right side is it okay? coz i bend down at look, like got a whole for petrol to leak de???

 

are you riding a ta150 or ta200?

 

for a ta150 it's not normal!!! as the tank should only have 2 holes..one for fuel to enter(where you pump petrol) and one for it to leave(petcock)

 

for a ta200 it's normal as there's 3 holed as compared to 2 the 3rd whole which is on the RIGHT side of the tank is supposed to be connected to somewhere... hmm..can't remember but no worries just don't pump too full and nothing will come out of the hole..

 

perhaps silent hunter can furthur explain haha..remembered you explain to me before but i can't remember..

 

its a breather... no matter what bike you are riding, the tank definitely have an opening or a "3rd" hole... it is to let the air enter the tank... if air cannot enter the tank, the petrol cannot flow into the carburetor or FI...

 

imagine a can of evaporated milk... thats why you need two openings...

Yap, no worries about it, TA200 tank has an air vent, which is a very small hollow pipe at the right bottom of the tank.

The other end of the vent is at the top of your tank, inside. so when you E-Brake, the petrol inside swoosh about and some swooshed into the hole and flow out by the little metal pipe to the outside.

 

Look around for a small black rubber tube to reconnect to it, that way the extra petrol when overflowed will not drip onto your engine, but will be redirected to the ground instead.

 

If cannot find, or totally missing also not a big issue. The petrol won't overflow unless you do these 2 things.

1. Pump until very full.

2. Corner steeply or E-brake very hard.

 

And even if overflow, and a few drops drip onto the engine, it will evaporate very quickly, you just have to clean away the stain after riding.

 

Once you ride until not so full, E-brake corner of whatever also won't overflow, so it's not worth getting white hairs over this small matter.

i hear a clinking & rattling sound from my block.

my friend kena befor..

th pre-syntoms is th same too, jerk jerk *rattle*

current suntoms same too, bike noisy (rattling sound) no power (ts 90kph)..

my friend ignore his nd eventually his piston broke, ovrhaul.. i dont want tht. ):

black&white saves life.

my ta200 super noisey also leh.. but i nvr get it change.. still ride, instead the move off is lighter(can feel the diff from other bike)

till now the new owner is still riding my bike with no problem leh..

 

my ta200 is burning EO as the piston is loose liao..

mind burn until EO dip stick totally clean leh.

is this normal, no right.. :S

 

mine is erm, gear 1 t 5 feel super rough, hav t change gear as thou im riding a scrambler.. super fast gear up.. gear 6 still abit normal but can feel its rough.. :s

 

these are syntoms of wht..

anyone can diagnose?

mine also got burn EO... sian... but till now still ok... cause i always ensure i top up EO if i dun change in time... did u by any chance overhaul ur ta200 by ah koon?

ur dip stick clean? when is ur last EO change?

for me i do it monthly no matter i ride alot or not

i kinda have e same symptoms bro... but really, just add eo... i add quite alot actually... but not dangerous levels la... but i still do change all eo by 1500km... as long as ur eo is maintained, high chances still can ride, like ben's former ta200 n my ta200... :)

 

no problems one... :) i ask ah chong, he say piston lose but just ride lor... shouldnt b problem so fast one... so on my side, i keep checking eo level every 500km... ensuring its at leats covering the circle mark right after the 3 Xs... :)

i understand bro... so now dun ride until u got add eo bro... the fact that u have ridden it till the dipstick is clean shows that ur piston already been thru some trauma... so now is to elongate its life only... :) by maintaining a good level of eo all e time, b4 n after u change... i ensure mine has about 1.3litres all the time, sometimes 1.4l... i know some tell me this is crazy... but it works for me... :)

i tink ur friend bike not jus that simple with piston ring loose..

there are other causes that to happen...

icic... cause i got mine overhauled by ah koon b4... i still noob that time rode until the whole piston got problem, because no more eo, all eaten... haha... till my exhaust blow smoke... my ta200 become like ta150... haha... so ah koon overhaul for me... it served me well without eating eo for 11months only, then eat eo again... sian... but now not noob, so i check eo all e time, only one time i didnt check n it started having problems, similar to devil.l's problems... so now i nv fail to check... :)

 

no problem so far... :)

cruising 100kph smoothly from eunos t jurong,

reaching jurong, bike giv 3 jerk, (it feels exactly like no-petrol)

engine quiet for a split second,

rattling sound starts coming from th left side, (seems t be gear box or engine block area)

nd i rattle on till tday..

thats scary... go n rev ur bike bro... c got smoke come out from exhaust onot... if yes, then i think must overhaul... if no, then i think still can be ridden with safe levels of eo, until the day e piston breaks. :)

when i start engine, idling its obvious and can hear the knocking sound in the block.

when at 150 its jus high rev sound and wind sound -_-

i understand ur feeling bro... e first time when i had to totally overhaul, i simply revved more even after lost power, cause i noob ma, thought no petrol... then suddenly "tiak!"... then tiak tiak all e way with smoke following me... sian... urs still ok la bro... really... i know heart very pain one... now just make sure got eo... :)

i check EO every 1000km just in case. But so far seems no problem lehz. thinking of changing piston at the 100 000 km.. good anot?

have you heard..the strongest chain is as strong as the weakest link..?

so you change your piston?? how about others??

old bikes have so many parts that have degraded over time..

i am not surprise that after your change of piston...u are still not happy with the results..

 

yeah..after piston change , the bike is not the same again..

aka..ask someone who has done it...:angel:

 

agreed bro... yes bro jt... our bike so many many things are old n every single thing can contribute to performance... so changing piston alone dun think will make a big diff or make u happy, it might actually give u more problems... :) so just overhaul when necessary bro, dun waste money when u dun have to... :)
