How old you all start building your Career?

hmm.started part time waitressing rite aft o's till poly.during poly bcame a drum instructor for some schs.aft poly bcam teacher all de way till nw.givin tuitions as well.tiring but wat to do.no work = no money.no money = cannot pay for bills bla bla bla.

Thanks for the advice mate. I never thought of doing part-time degree as I'm afraid there'll be no time for me to study. Most importantly I don't have a clue how the NS system work.

 

You're saying that after BMT, I will have the time to go to school at night while serving the nation in the day and afternoon? This is not included if I'm chosen to go to SISPEC or OCS right?

 

no need sispec/ ocs, just ur luck whether u kenna 8-5 or stay in.

 

8-5 mostly clerk/ driver/ maybe medic, more of support crew. stay in mostly for those in training (bmt/ sispec/ ocs) or kenna posted to unit to qiong.

 

sometimes unit go qiong, support crew also cannot bookout. so boils down to luck or how siao u wanna act when check up (not unheard of).

 

mostly only if 8-5 will have time to night study.

Taking pt degree in ns is possible. Best if 9 to 5 vocation. But if not, still possible as long as u're not a trainee. Just need to find courses with minimal contact time or intensive courses...I did mine in 1999 when I was in the rifle company Infantry unit.. missed a couple of classes when got overnight missions & major exercise but overall still ok. took time off when there are no night off....

 

In fact I took more subjects during my 2nd yr ns that when i started working full time.... started working, earn $$ then need to time to enjoy & waste money liao.. haha

 

I think the govt & saf are even more relax on serviceman taking time off for studies now...

started @ 16 right after o levels, been going for part time during my poly days for 4 years in the same company...adding 2 more part time jobs along the way towards the end of the 4 years...NS duty the following 2 years....

 

Now, working full time and gonna do part time on an undergraduate studies......

Part time when i was 12. From poor poor family.

Jobs involved r shoe maker in a shoe factory, electronic appliances installer (assistant), Assistant painting worker, Assistant sale promoter...

Start full time after my STPM study - 'GCE A LEVEL' in Msia in age 19.

2 years plus working in the same company till now age 21++.

Starting small business. In process...

Taking part-time Dip in Tech(Mech) in NP. Aim: Bach Deg in Tech in NUS. (hopefully)

Earn money urself at least can ease family expenses and burden.

 

Own exp: SG provides a very good environment to study and work. Catch the chance when u have it, if not u just like a normal slacker giving urself many2 excuses to waste ur time. Independant for a male is a must. No wife hopes her husband is an useless man unless ur family very rich. Got family business for u to care.

 

Time and tide wait for no man. It's gone mean will nvr turn back. As long as precious every second u have. A man must have his own principle n proud without giving any excuses. Even a handicaped people will try their best to earn more for living, think about ourselves..

Wa i noticed everyone start work early too.. Started working part time after o'lvls and have been that way since.. What i know is you spend what you earn.. Now if don't work part time, i dunno how to survive.. In SG you nv work early cannot enjoy also... Some more now with bike, HP bills, needs and wants.. No work, no money, no joy.. So materialistic in sg man..

 

Now already 23 and still a student.. Like what some others say, i grad at 25 then will start life long career from there.. 2 more years to endure man before can have a stable income..

Haha. Currently I doing my degree in IT and will be going to grad soon. But also doing to do my masters after my degree. So should be going to by IT industry. Cos currently I'm working part time as an IT engineer with a security firm. But life is not going very smooth cos no money.

i've just finish NS in april (24 this yr), but due to the mistake i made during poly (taking a dip for the sake of a dip )

end up i not interested in networking (IT) field.

 

i'm working for the army now. doing something i like. managing people (nsf) and tackling officers and other units that come to my area...

but the $ isn't good enough. sigh... haha

 

can only afford to study for pt dip sometime nx year only... needa clear debts

 

building a career ? or should look into small biz atm, not sure...
