Spies to make wild card appearance at Valencia .....

Ben Spies will make a wild card appearance for Yamaha in the final round of 2009 at Valencia ahead of his permanent move into MotoGP next year.

Following the announcement on Thursday that Ben Spies will move to MotoGP in 2010, Yamaha Motor Company now announces that it will enter the Texan as a wild card into the season-ending Valencia race.

25-year-old Spies will participate as a single rider entry of a Yamaha Factory Racing Team, using YZR-M1 test bikes brought over from Japan. The Valencia MotoGP round takes place 6-8th November, two weeks after the final World Superbike round in Portugal.

The wild card entry will provide an opportunity for Spies to get extra circuit time prior to his inclusion in the Tech 3 Yamaha Team for the two-day MotoGP test on the Tuesday and Wednesday after the Grand Prix.

Anybody watched the 250 race? Great battle, the 2nd place had to be shared as both finished at the same timing, but they selected 2nd according to who had the better lap in the race...

Ben spies.. good luck! Confirmed entry for MotoGP next year

I think Ayoma better stick at MOTO2 next year.. At least he have the chance to be Champion again if he win this year..MOTOGP he will be top 15..he not up to it yet...he is smooth rider but not aggressive as the top riders including Ben Spies..

Interesting comment by Burgess in a MOTOGP interview

Burgess continued, “Certainly, my objective from an engineering perspective is to make a bike that all riders can ride. It’s a very well tuned bike which has been developed by Valentino Rossi, and any rider coming in to ride this bike doesn’t have to worry about development. They have the ability and the information that we have put together over many years, combined with the settings we have from the last two especially – and particularly with the Bridgestone tyres – so it’s not as easy to develop the bike as it is to ride the bike. We have a rider in Valentino who develops the bike and we have on the other side of the garage one guy who just has to ride.”

Yes , its true...but they dont share secret data wz their own team mate. that why they put a partition between Rossi & Lorenzo...

They dont share race setups etc etc but i do believe the M1 is what it is now due to Rossi input in it's early years of development which resulted in this current competition winning bike..

Imagine putting Lorenzo or anyone else in Rossi's place during the early switch, how would the M1 be now...

And Rossi did mention that he had no choice as it's Yamaha making the final call..

Burgess continued, “We have a rider in Valentino who develops the bike and we have on the other side of the garage one guy who just has to ride"...

Rossi in post-race interview; "It was a very difficult race for me,” confessed Rossi. “I was never able to be fast because I did not have enough grip in the rear and our tyre did not work well, but I think it was more a problem of setting...

Now if Lorenzo had no input at all on the bike, how was it that he did not have rear tyre problems and was able to win the race in Estoril? Either he does have input on the bike (and not just ride), or he can handle the situation better than Rossi (but it can't be that far diff rite)...
