i have the same problem but it's got something to do with the brake and brake disc. it's actually caused by uneven contact between the brake pad and your brake disc not suspension or brake lines. how to solve it i don't really know it always happens when i replace brake pads. however it will eventually go away once the brake pads are worn out slightly and forms the same shape as the brake disc lol. i know this is not normal but i just have to suck it up and wait till my brake disc is worn then i will change a brake disc...

I reckon your discs are warped. I had the exact same experience before.

I urge you to get your discs checked and need be, replaced. as a long as you have that intermittent braking, its does not provide adequate braking in emergency situations.

I paid the price. not nice feeling

i rode back 200kms to sg with a bent in fork & lotsa broken parts and a scarred bike.

then after recovery, have to fork out more $$$ to repair/change parts from bike.

just $0.02

That's what i thought of too. I have checked my front brake discs but they don't seems to be uneven on the surface. Just slight lines due to wear n tear. I will post a photo on it when i have got time. I suspect might be the pads.

Thanks for the advice bro. Just hope its not my discs instead of brake pads. For now i guess i just ride slowly until i get it checked, since the horse-riding won't kick in if i just pressed the front brake slightly.

My spec two's speedo meter, signal light, tail light just died on me while on highway today, engine seems to be going on and off. No more power once i hit like 70KM/HR ~ 90KM/HR, luckily headlight is still on so it wasn't so dangerous. Anyone got any idea what is wrong? Could it be the speed sensor?

happened to me once which was due to fuse blown.

Went down to my mechanic and he rectify the problem for me by replacing my fuse, but after awhile the fuse break and i had to return to my mechanic. Manage to find the cause, exposed wire. He wrap it with tape and replace my fuse. No further problem.

Engine oil leaking prolly coz of your gasket

Timing chain is cheap, labour is ex

Best to standby few hundred, depends on which shop u go & wat they do.

(Eg. Timing chain/ tensioner / valve clearance / gasket n ect )

Better to go to a shop u Frequent/ Confident with.

Don't go to a Black shop

Hi all,

I am new here and I just got my cb 400.

The precedent owner had replace the mirrors for smaller ones to improve the bike's aesthetic.

I would like to put it back to original and I was wondering where to buy cheap original mirrors. I could also exchange the ones I have as I believe some people would prefer those. I just feel the original ones are more comfortable when driving around...

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi guys,

I have a 1997 CB400 NC36. My bike sometimes can't start using the electric starter. The bike cranks strong, can feel the engine cranking and the compression from the exhaust. Just can't start. But when i push start the bike, it starts. Then i can start using the e start after i kill the engine. This problem will surface again many days later.

So , what could be the problem ?

Starter brushes ? Hmm...starter sounds like it is working fine. Engine cranks..

starter clutch ? i do feel the compression air from the exhaust during the crank

CDI ? but i can push start the bike.

Anyone encountered this before ? please help. thanks.

Dear all,

I was wondering if it is possible to find a side rack to mount my H&B Sidebox on my CB 400 Ver S?

I currently have a side rack modifed for a varadero 125 and i have approached both Seng Kwang and Ah Ann for a quotation for the modification of my existing side rack; Seng Kwang quoted me $250 (WAD?!) while Ah Ann quoted $180.

I started to think that perhaps purchasing a brand new rack might actually be cheaper ( after considering the proceeds i would get form the sale of my old rack ). I searched online and i seemed unable to find any racks for CB 400 SF. It may be attributable to the fact that the Super Four Range of CB 400 was not sold in the States. The CB400s that hepco and becker have on their website mostly refer to the very old model(

I'm hoping that someone here might assist me in answering two questions :

1. Is it possible to find a side rack ( without modification on my part ) to mount my H&B Sidebox on my CB 400 Ver S.

2. Has anyone paid lesser for a similiar modification to fit their rack onto their CB 400 ( i understand that Seng Kwang seems to charge according to the bike class )

THANKS GUYS !
