I was too, but they don't wanna wear fullfaces which I bought for them :weep: Until I entertained them with the mercury tinted visor for FF :shades:

on a seperate note , i just started wearing ear plugs with my FF 3 days ago...the first day was weird as the noise level dropped by at least 80% , but 2nd ride onwards was ok ... strongly suggest those who dun wear an earplug to do so , makes the ride more enjoyable. :bounce:

earplug when riding.. may not be safe... u miight not be able to hear any horn or hazards. take note that some cars or bikes horn are as soft as a mouse scream.

it is a personal preference, for quieter bikes such as phantom (provided that you didn't tong your pipe )

for bikes with larger engines especially when their engines are in a high state of tune, wearing ear plugs becomes a health issue...

I think buying ear plugs is a worthwhile investment as damage to your ears is often irreversible and cannot be detected until the later and more severe stages. Good earplugs manufactured for motorcycling do not totally block out sound! Most only block out high dB noise such as the whine of the engine and windblast; things which are not essential to your safety on the road.

hi i just got my 2b license. wondering if you all think its weird to wear a full face helmet with leather protective jacket on a phantom? because, i happen to have a brand new shoei helmet and dainese jacket from my bro. do you guys think its overkill? like, too racy? i'm 1.85 so can only ride phantom.

who care about what ppl thinks...? most importanly is u r comfortable and feel safe wearing it...

I ride all the time with earplugs. It blocks out ambient noise & makes riding much more comfortable.

As for helmets, I have an open face, a mushroom half-cap & a flip face. My preference is still the open face.

I used to have the sony ericsson's headphones on both with FF, found it dangerous so I have only one side on or have both on with lower volume..

Curious, can you still hear with your OF and earplugs? or is it still audible about your exhaust or engine? Never tried earplugs before..

Personally, with the plugs, I feel that I still have enough hearing to judge traffic. It gets rid of all the ambient wind noise. I'm used to it already.

I wear it with my other helmets too

Yeoch! I thought it'll be as good as total shut off. Curious about how "silent" the Arai and Shoei FF would be. I also wonder how the MotoGp riders take it when theirs are so much louder than normal 4 strokes and higher pitch than 2 strokes :giddy: Still would be good that you can hear something, in case this month you shut your ears and can hear someone speaking in your ear :cheeky:

There are not any ear plugs can shut off all noise.

Neither can any helmet outperform earplugs in terms of noise attenuation.

The 3M foam earplugs I use has a 28dB attenuation. That filters noise down significantly. Loud noises (e.g. car horns) can still be heard, but not so piercing.

On a sidetrack, what FF helmets do you guys recommend in the range of 200-300? I just want to spend moderately to get a good helmet, and save for the other essentials such as leather jacket, gloves, boots etc

That budget is well enough to get any decent FF. Go to the shops to try yourself, different shells for different heads, padding perferences. No need chiong for a specific brand, it's more important that it fits and comfortable.

It's always heartening to know a new rider who's into protections. Jia you!

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

When I wanted protection back then, nobody knew I was into it. even my dad said I am crazy if I wanna save up for a at least 700+ Shoei or Arai when he paid only $50 back then :cheeky:

Ya, 103 is flip up. For those who doesn't wear spectacles, go for FF in all case.

I wear specs, would a FF helmet pose problems?

I'm more and more convinced that I should get a FF after reading this thread.

Got bike must ride!
