nope sharen. i definitely gonna buy it its quite small for a 125cc. more like a kids bike. but its cute. and i already visualise what i want it to look like. and i know how i'm gonna do up the bike. the thing is i like to be different and unique. even though if i was going to be the only one. so yes i'm gonna ride it soon probably by mid aug.

Hi all,

I am a noob to motorcycle ownership... Had my 2B done last May and still shopping for a nice 2B bike and could not get good vibes...

Just sharing on what I have learnt so far.

I read the Kawasaki 125 Dtracker didnt have a good review (BikezForum based in UK) and said it lacked power and punch.

Coincindentally, my US buddy who's an ardent biker just bought a Kawa DTracker 150cc for weekend fun riding and he was also contemplating on a Derbi Terra.. But went for the Kawasaki DTracker 150cc cos he said :

a. Fuel Injection on the Kawasaki engine is good as it tunes itself ever so slightly to adjust for air quality (I dunno, me a newbie)

b. Jap engines are better quality (Derbi is made in Spain, altho I read somewhere they used a Suzuki based Caburettor engine)

c. Caburettor engine needs tuning every so often and if you are a newbie, means you end up paying the shop to do it for you

d. The Derbi has a 150cc engine bore kit that you can buy...and install. Great way to pay 125cc road tax and get a 150cc power... but then its extra costs.

i am still doing my sums... and if it adds on to $10K, I might as well buy a Kawasaki.

I know some bros recommend going for 2A... but I have no time to do 2A. And I kinda like the looks of the Derbi Terra (look like a BMW GS) and the kick-ass look of the Kawasaki DTracker.

Oh by the way...

The Husky and the Aprilla are nice... but I remembered some bros had posted good advice that the Aprilla has a left side Kickstarter and no fuel cap lock. Cos the Aprilla 125cc bikes were built for weekend fun riding and not for everyday use. I used to live and work in the US and regretted thaht I should have done my Class 2 there. And anyway back in the US, the bikes below 200cc no need any class 2 license and you only need Class 3 driver license to ride as long as the bike dont exceed certain Horsepower.

And the Husky and Aprilla are 2 stroke engines cos they were made for target customers who only ride them on weekends and not for everyday use. And so maintenance costs for Husky and Aprilla are higher if you are using for daily rides
