Alarm recommendation for Fatty

Am looking for feedback on a 2 way alarm? I intend to install on my FatBoy. From the look of it, there are two brands that are quite popular - Scorpio and Spy.

 

I have the following thoughts..

- It should not drain my battery flat in "armed" mode..maybe can last for at least 2 wks?

- switcheable on/off perimeter security- S'pore has tight parking spaces..dont want to get alerted all the time..

- shock/movement sensor always on

- immobilizer

- not too bulky, can fit under seat

- the range of paging service, well i dont believe in the adverts as 1 or 5km means nothing this is for open space only, we live in S'pore, lots of blockages.

 

I understand Scorpio has a customized connector for Harley Softails which will be a bonus (and cost only US$19.95) but the system is quite expensive. Any one installed either the Spy and Scorpio or maybe other brands that I overlooked..please post, PM me or email me on model purchased and your experiences with it..good and bad, and where you get it installed, and if possible the $$ damage :-).

 

Feedback from fellow bikers appreciated before I spend a couple hundred bucks?

Andrew has an motion alarm system set up for his Sportster. Maybe you would like to ask him about it before your purchase.

Have the Scorpio 2-way one with RFID on my Piaggio MP3.

 

Very convenient that you dont have to arm/disarm your alarm.

 

Just walk away and it will auto-arm and auto-disarm when you are close.

 

Like that feature a lot but only problem is that the remote battery life quite bad in my opinion.

 

Have to charge it every 10 days or so, if you can live with it, it is a good investment.

 

Got the proximity sensor installed too, very reliable and consistent even though it is under my seat in my storage compartment.

the agent in the dealership told me not to install aftermarket alarm system on newer harleys cause in the wrong run it could mess up the bike's electrical system
