was told that my bike cannot warm up too long, else the carburettor will choke due to design.

So i guess, whether to warm up or not also depends on bike ba. Generally, what I heard is 2 stroker no need to warm up, 4 stroker otherwise needs to warm up indefinitely.

Is that true?

In my opinion,

i wouldnt like to be woken up from my sleep by someone and he/she ask me to run straightaway...of coz i would like to slowly wake up stretch here stretch there then slowly get up...sort of like makes the blood in my body flow smoothly...Yes i know bikes are machine but they almost have the same characteristics, when they fall sick have to fork out money..1 or 2 mins of warm up will do guys...:thumb:

maybe f you are in a hurry you can ride slowly when the engine is cold... dont straight away whack the bike... think that will be considered warm up too..

Basically warming up of bike is necessary cos its for the machine system itself to run in smoothly after tat....

In addition to tat, its not gd for the carbs n the engine in the long run if not let it warm up...

For u guys info..... My first bike tat is RXK..... My fren ride my bike without warming up n straight away whack it....

Soon after tat the piston JAM.........:faint:

warming up the bike allows the engine oil to coat every single place before you put higher stress onto it. also, some components work most optimally at a certain temperature range. it is a good idea to start your bike, then wear head liner, helmet, adjust jacket, put on gloves etc. this usually takes a few minutes...by which time your bike is ready to go :)

wat you think will happen if usain bolt didnt warm up his muscles before doing his sprint training? maybe first training nth will happen but cramps.... but probably sooner or later e muscle will gonna tear....

same goes for bikes... all bikes need to warm up. small or big.... except bicycle.

My bike has an "in-built warm up system". If early in the morning i just wanna go off like that, my engine will die when suddenly open big throttle. :)

Our bike works just like, early morning in the middle of sleep ,u can't just wake up and do a 2.4km rite.haha, aniwae yes it is not healthy for you to start ur bike and just move out when the engine is cold or low or high rev ur bike to make it warm up faster will result in more:Abnormal Missfire of your sparks due to null in temp built up,so there will be more fuel or carbon deposits to ur sparks, revving can actually fry ur coil ,rectifier, ecu at a faster pace, engine oil usually rests at the bottom of the reservoir will take time to built in vicosity and also heat in order to start lubricating ur bike.

And yes it is better if u reheat ur bike slowly be it a 2 or 4 stroke.cheers mate.:thumb:

Yes it is taking it's time to make the warm up,all bikes got a choke like system when starting nowdays, this applies for 4 stroke which u r riding, during starting of the cold engine , the fuel is cut to a minimum just enuff to let it idle slowly till warm,if you go ahead to pull the throttle of course more fuel less air ,constant spark won't be eunff to sufficce the constant fuel.resulting in a stall.:dozed:

still should warm up...what you feel outside isn't the same as what is happening inside...just a couple minutes of idling should do the trick for most bikes that are run daily. if your bike hasn't been running for a few days, then a few more minutes would be good.

outside temp also plays a part too... in the hot afternoon the idling gets normal faster than on a cold dreary morning...

i take it that once the idling and revving sounds normal... it's ok to move off le...

No one will disagree that all vehicles such as cars, bikes, etc, need warming up.

However, idling the engine is not the correct way of warming up the bike. The correct way to warm the engine is on the move by riding slowing to bring the engine up to operating temperature before using it normally.

my bike manual says muz let the oil circulate b4 putting load or revving the engine.

however, it also stated letting the engine idle for long may cause internal engine component damage and exhaust discolouration. switch off engine when u cannot ride promptly.

in car manuals, they always state commence driving immediately once engine is started.

for me,

- after i took out my bike canvas, i start engine,

- fold the canvas, put inside box,

- wear liner, helmet and gloves. push bike out of the lot and the temp bar is already at 2nd bar. sometimes, at the 3rd bar liao if do all the above slowly.

- den i ride smoothly.

- after ard 1 min, 3rd bar liao which means normal operating temp. reach expressway den i bring the speed up smoothly to the cruising speed.
