my bike stalled at traffic junction

Err... My bike stalled at the traffic junction while giving way to the on coming traffic.( I already crossed the stop line and my bike was at the last line) I tried to restart my engine many times while the light was still green but to no avail. i think i restarted my engine shortly after the light had turned to red, and because i had already passed the stop line, i just went to complete my right turn. After these circumstances, whether i already passed the stop line when the light was still green long again and because my engine stalled, would i be penalised?

you should be fine. even if there was a camera and you did get a summons for beating the red light (which you didn't), a simple appeal will clear it up. so no worries. next time when your bike stalls and you cannot start it after a couple tries, push it to a safe place quickly so that you don't get into a tight spot

+1 . I just can't stand those ppl who say do anything you want just dont just caught or whatever. Wait till they got bang by someone who do anything and i shall see they agree with their sentence not .

Hello mavericklee... Am sorry to hear about a situation like this for you; but to my experience, no, you would not be penalized.

 

Just thought I may share some information I have, but I cannot confirm if they are 100% accurate (I don't want to try it myself... (^^)):

 

- If you have passed the stop line when the light has already turned red.

- If you are halfway or more into the junction box. (From the snapped photo).

- If the speed that you are travelling is fast - they determine that by the camera shots. The camera fires 2 shots within a second (or less). From there, they can determine the speed that you are travelling when you cross the line.

 

You can only be penalized if all above 3 conditions are met. If any of the conditions are questionable at the time of the occurance, you can submit an appeal and there is a good chance it will be successful.

 

From what I understand, your bike is stationary while inside the junction box - so there is no fault. You did not pass the line when the light is red. And you're stationary. And it was a right-turn. Conditions not met = No penalty.

 

Rest assured there would be no penalties. If, let's say at the very worst case there is one, you stand a very, very high chance of a successful appeal.
