My thoughts exactly - when I was shortlisting bikes! This offers very good value for money & it is a great 'platform' to customize / add farkles to, but is not popular?

May be because it is perceived to be (fairly so) old technology / it lives in the shadow of Hayabusa / it is a 'plain jane' bike with no major new or sexy feature?

It has quite a following in Oz/NZ, UK and recently in the US (Suzuki apparently only recently started exporting this model to the U.S.), so this model is not exactly a dud worldwide - but for us in Singapore ...

For whatever its worth - my thought process in selecting this bike was:

I like torquey bikes and wanted a reliable bike that can commute well (should take luggage well and have good low end torque with decent FC) and not be a slouch on the North South Highway either

I looked at the VFR, Multistrada and the Bandit - My heart liked the VFR, my wallet chose the bandit :)

If you want to have a feel of the bike, just drop me a PM and we could catch up in Sing or head North.

Ur thought process and mine are exactly the same! Haha.. but i have 2 other factors also la.. style and uniqueness.. hahah..

For me my heart love the tenere.. but my wallet cannot make it.. haha.. probably have to eat bread everyday.. :cheeky:

a meet up would be great! Can meet for a petrol run or kopi in sg.. haha..

I have no regret at all traded in my FZ1 for gsx. My FZ1 got some electric problems which I changed 4 batteries in 15 months !!!! My gsx just passed 1 yr with no problem at all. How about that ?? I dun like to feel so much engine vibration coming to the bars on the FZ1. Dun know how do many people can

tahan it while touring at NSH. Enough said !! Still enjoying my gsx until now . Haha.

That's interesting! When I called Guan Hoe, they said no stock and asked me to call Teo Spray! So, I got it from Teo Spray :)

This is a mixed bag!

Exhaust - Patrick of Teo Spray said it is available locally, but I have no experience (not planning to change before 10,000 km - warranty issues).

Seat (Autocom), bar-end weights, levers (Unique) were available readily. Also added fender xtender & changed to bmw grips at Mtechnik

ZG Screen (Unique), Givi rack (Mah) - was asked to wait after paying deposit (so i ordered online!). H&B has rack readily available, tho (M-technik Motosports, Paya ubi - Industrial park, Ubi Av 1)

I would also be ordering frame sliders and mirror extenders online.

Kopi - sure! I am headed north for the national day weekend - other than that - can catch up any evening

Hey bro, if you are still looking for a touring shield, drop me a PM - happy to let you try (& buy, if you choose to) the ZG touring shield I have - doesn't suit me - I might just go for a regular ZG or MRA Vario screen.

@superspeed & MAC77 - time to do a GSX 1250FA kopi session? How about Aug last week - say 31st Friday, 8 PM LC food court, Tanjong Katong?

Aug 31st cant cnfd cos we might have to werk on dat day . If wanna meet up shd not be a problem just informed me or superspeed at least 3 days in advance . Superspeed's bandit "souped up" oredi so u might be keen to view his bike ! 

C ya soon !!

haha! Since I'm outnumbered ;), why don't you and superspeed propose a kopi session date? FYI - I'm not in town from 19th to 26th - any other day should be fine!

Wah! I'd love to be 'inspired' by superspeed's bike! faster, faster - let's meet, before I spend more money on adding stuff that might not be totally useful!

btw, what do ppl think about the e-scottoiler (the battery-connected $400+ version) - useful for a bike like Bandit that has a center-stand?

I am going to Motoworld later to add the MRA X-creen spoiler to my stock screen and was wondering if it was a good idea to add on a tire-pressure gauge and scottoiler. Thanks!

Hi bro ,

We will plan to meet up after u are back in town . We will be on a rd trip to e "land of smiles" from 10th till 17th sept . Anyways, e normal scott oiler will do just fine . Don't do unnecessary mods to e bike cos remember it's a tourer ! If u wanna get a more powerful bike . . . E "Bird of Prey" from Suzuki is a better choice 

I suggest u changed to e KNN drop in air filter , iridium plugs , volt meter n a good pipe . The bike will be nice to ride oredi !

The normal type scottoiler will do. Or better, get a scottoiler dual injector to go along with it. Can spend the balance of the money on others stuffs. Go to www.holeshot.com for more goodies !!

Thanks for the advice bro! will go for the normal v-type and look for the dual injector.

The full holeshot treatment is my dream! Have you fitted any holeshot enhancements? What would you reccomend?

Look forward to checking your bike out when we meet :)

Gd morning bro . . .

Saw ur bike at MW yday afternoon but didn't see u there . Have u collected it ?

Posted

I collected it only this afternoon! Scottoiler, tyre pressure gauge and cameras installed!

Will install voltmeter, throttle control, rad guard and sliders soon after I come back, hopefully ;)

Superspeed - tried to get MW to install the dual injector, but they asked me to fit it later - may be because they were crazy busy.

Whoo !! Must be really happy and excited to collect your bike today. Happy running in !!

I got the holeshot stage 2 on my bike. It consists of cutting a big hole on the airbox, K&N filter , Dobeck TFI, Scorpion legal CF pipe and removing of the secondary butterflies. Some R&G stuffs like bar balancer , radiator guard , fork sliders etc . Using HB junior top box with HB bracket .

Stage 2 !!! :thumb: Can't wait to hear your engine growl!

I guess I'll wait for my 10K warranty to get over before I squeeze the extra torque and power out of my engine!

btw, my engine has already been run-in - my bike is a month old now - just collected it back from MW after they spent 1 day installing scottoiler etc.

Bro, we should talk! I've been looking at suspension and brakes for a while - the bike has tons of low-end power even in stock condition, but the spongy brakes (combined with boingy suspension) don't inspire confidence! That's one of the reasons (along with warranty issues) I am looking at suspension, brakes & tyres first before going in for pipes, F-A mix alteration etc.

I've been talking to Joshua of Bike Lab (super guy! very patiently explained various options to me) - he checked with Penske & Ohlin - they don't make shocks for our bike model. The plan is to leave the bike with him when I'm back so he can send measurements and get a quote for a custom rear suspension (for touring use) + traxxion dynamics front kit.

The other option is of course the holeshot suspension+brake kit package - I've sent him details of the holeshot treatment, basically this article: http://www.sportrider.com/bikes/146_1201_project_suzuki_gsx1250fa/index.html

Am planning to discuss this further when I'm back in town - will keep you updated.

And oh, thanks for the holeshot link - I just noticed that they have a full brake line kit + sintered pads for the GSX!

Dun get the full Brakeline kit . There are some problems with the fitting of the brakeline at the ABS unit under the seat reported by a forumer from US website. For cost wise, I believe it is cheaper to get the shock from holeshot.com rather that get a custom shock which I believe will cost much more . I was

interested to get the shock from Nitron from UK. Very good quality but they only make for Bandit1250 but not GSXFA. I saw the mountings is different between Bandit and GSXFA. Joshua from Bikelab is good at suspension . I ordered and have a full sets of Brembo sinter brake pads for our bike. Top choices for brake pads will be EBC, Brembo etc .

Bro Garfield . . .

Pls do ur own research on e pros n cons of wat to be done for e bandit . Some of e mods n parts are gd to fix or add on but some are useless . Superspeed's bike is 99.9% show bike n meant to pose ard only . He done so many things but Never . . . I repeat "NEVER" fully utilize e true potential of his bike . I keep reminding him it's such a waste of money to do all e mods but in e end he uses e bike only to go JB town shell stn to pump petrol n u-turn !! He must kena smack at the ass big time than he wake up his idea . . . 

But than again . . . he's filthy rich n got loads of cash to spare . . . 

@mac - hear u bro! Thanks for trying to keep me sane :) Trust me - I'm researching like crazy - but guess what? Nothing like trying it out:) Folks recommended the ZG touring screen - didn't work for me! but, I am pleased with the PR3 tyres (only time will tell if it will hold up to abuse, though:) ), Sargent seat etc. I guess there is no running away from a few 'failed farkles' :) Which is why I am posting so frequently - hopefully this thread will help folks learn from our experience and help them set-up their bandits to their liking / needs / wants!

In terms of 'needs' (vs. 'wants') - oh, don't get me started on that philosophical discussion! :)

Seriously though, for now - I am focusing on safety and comfort - for commuting or touring - (boxes, grips, bar-ends, seat, tyres, screen, scottoiler, gps etc.). So yes- I am trying to keep it sane (hate to admit I don't succeed all the time though!) ;)

@superspeed - Thanks for the comment on brake lines. Interacted with Dale of Holeshot: the touring handlebar kit for the GSX 1250 (along with compatible / extra long throttle & brake cables) should be ready in a couple of months. Won't be in time for 3NCR tho :(

And show Mac what your 'Suzuki on steroids' can do when you head up North! ;)

Hope to see you guys next week sometime!

Hi all bros...

My beloved Bandit 1250 SA is for sale, here is the posting: http://www.singaporebikes.com/used_bikes/7971/bmw_other_bmw_models/

It's fully modded, tastefully done with Akrapovic (LTA approved), Ohlins, GIPro, and probably the most comfortable custom-built (by eugene saddlery) seat around. See for yourself and you will know it's a well-kept and well-loved bike.

I love the bike, but after promising my wife that I won't tour any more... it's up for sale to the right buyer.

So pls contact me at 901-zero-two-niner-5-five if you're interested.
