Hi people

I'm currently taking my class 2B and I have loads of questions.. I intend to purchase a motorcycle straight after my tp test and wonder whether a first hand or second hand bike would be better for first timer.. Also. I probably won't be upgrading to class 2A until after my NS which will be around 2012-2013..

Oh and I have seen forumers askng what number plates it is when purchasing bikes.. Are the front two alphabets tthat important?

Also, for new bikes, on the road prices means everything including number plates? Excluding insurance..

Sorry there's a lot of thing.. I'm just really lost ..

Thanks

Well, if you really intend to ride the 2B bike for the next 4-5 years, might as well get a brand new one.

Just make sure you really like the bike, and it is for transport only.

Cos many of us say stay with this bike for XXX years, but in the end, upgraded and changed bikes in XXX months. :)

Well, for 1st hand and 2nd hand, simple actually. if you got enough money, go for 1st hand.

If you got not enough $$$, go for 2nd hand.

Do mind buying 2nd hand is just like lottery, and if you are a newbie, the odds gets poorer for you.

The last thing you want is to buy a 2nd hand bike which you think is a excellent purchase, but turned out every few weeks this spoil, that spoil. Waste $$$, waste time and real pissed off.

Decide what you want, and buy 1st hand if you got enough $$$. Done.

When you buy a new bike, the plate number is decided by the system. Unless you want to bid, it will cost minimum $1000. Bike plate and number, i dont really give a damn. Just a few alphabets and digits. Pointless for me to spend $$$ on numbers which I cant see anyway. :)

On the road means everything. Just pay and ride away.

When you buy a bike, just make sure that they give you a detailed quote, listing everything down. Machine price, insurance, COE, Road tax, number plate bidding...etc. Every damn thing. You do not wanty last minute 'surprises'.

Best regards.

hmm...then might as well get a brand new one in the first place, ya? Instead of spend $$$ on a 2nd hand, then trade in and lost $$$ to buy another 2B bike.

2nd hand for most people, if you can afford it go ahead and buy brand new. On the road means everything, can go out and ride on the road.

The number plates indicate roughly when the bike was registered. For example, FZ is around 2005, FY is 04-05, FX is 03-04. But it is only an estimate because one plate series lasts quite long for bikes. You should ask for the registration date when buying a second hand bike. And if a previous owner retain number or the bike has a bidded number the plate won't matter. Some new bikes have old plates, old bikes have new plates.
