front tire touching brake pad

Is it normal for ure front tire to be like touching the brake pad? Coz i put my bike on the main stand, then i was turning my front tire to chk tire pressure, then i can hear like metal scrapping sound like the brake is touching it. Is this normal? or do i have to go adjust the brakes?The tire still can move though.

I Think Your Brake Disc Is Bent Or Something Is Not Right. By Right The Brake Pad Should Have A Little Gap From The Brake Disc. I Think Only Lah. Best Is To Go To A Mechanic And Ask. Maybe Just Some Screws That Need To Be Tighten Or Adjust.

All i can say,aftera while of normal or excessive breaking due to normal operation,your DiskBrake will actually "warp" due to heat .dun worry it's normal ,u can trim to make it even ,but if u r intending to change a disk brake,make sure also in place are new pads ,ur choice.........:angel:goodluck.

the brake pad position already messed up that it somehow touch the tyre.

I believe TS referring to brake disc. Depend on design of caliper, it is not uncommon for brake pad to be slightly touching the disc (especially the cheaper design sliding caliper found on mopeds), unless you find you need force to get the front wheel to spin.

 

Normally, it should spin freely for a couple of revolutions before stopping. While spinning, a bit of sound from the brake disc is normal.

 

In some cases, overtightening the caliper bolts or front axle can cause some tightness. Loosening and retightening will solve the problem.

 

I doubt the brake disc is warped. If it is, you should have a pulsating feel when applying the front brake lever.
