ooo... i seldom exceed 100km/h on my meter even on expressways wor... and for a rough guage, when my friend's rvf maintain at 80km/h, my meter already showed 100km/h... and i play with the throttle so the engine rpm was consistantly changing too. heard from a friend on a sp dat when the exhaust valve open, there'll be a sudden surge of acceleration yes? but on mine no such feeling, juz constant building up power on high rpm. did observe two sounds when i turn the key to on too... maybe because the bike is restricted so power was not out completely? juz calculated today nia... the bike's fuel consumption is 20km/liter. good or bad for a stock bike? i oso seldom rev the engine too high before changing gear too wor...

My bike was already de-restricted when I got it, so I cant say how it feels normally. If you dont feel the surge when the CTS valves open, then you could probably check if there is too much carbon build up in your exhaust (due to low quality fuel, 2T, carb settings etc) since you say the exhuast sounds "quite". This can really affect the performance at all RPMs, but if your bike can pull OK at low and mid rpms then it might by due to carb jetting.

Since you can reach 110+ I think its probably been derestricted. Btw, 20kmpl is quite good, I usually get 17-18 when I ride normally and can only manage 20 if im very light with the right hand.

Does anyone know where I can get a seat cover with "CAGIVA" printed on it? I just got my cover changed at the shop next to LAB, but I they dont have CAGIVA seat covers. Only thing to do is to fix the speedo and get a brand new custom paint job and she is as good as new!!

Posted

Venka, there aren't any seat covers with "cagiva" printed on them. Those that you have seen is probably done at 219 or something where they print the words onto the cover before wrapping your seats. hope this is helpful in your search of restoring your ride... cheers...

Eh... for work shop i go to planet motors... at ubi... the mechanic there had some 2nd hand parts that i needed so i went there and continued going till now... the mechanic Ah Chong is very friendly budden he has way too many regular customers that if you went on a saturday you're going to have to wait like 3 hrs jus to get your brake pads changed. you can try first motors also... the mechanic the called Ah seng is not bad too... But their english all sucks... try telling them you wanna de-restrict your bike by removing the header and they all scratch head till i showed them that its in the exhaust then they understand... :slapforehead:

Hey angelus thanks, will give 219 a visit once my paint job is done (thinking of doing something similar to the raptor 125). Im thinking of also getting "PLANET" painted on the grab handles below the seat... also ala the raptor 125. So how does ur planet feel after being derestricted?!

Im still going to Miverva for my repairs and plan to go there for my 5000km service as well. They did a good job on my bike after my recent fall and its running so well now that im falling in love with the Planet all over again!! Im thinking of calling Mah pvt sometime in Sept when they are supposed to be ready to handle Cagivas... Joseph @96849008.

Jus one more request guys, if any of u come across a 2nd hand speedo let me know... ive tried looking everywhere even on ebay but its tough to get one.

Venka... First motors at Ubi has a 2nd hand MITO speedo... it comes together with a tacho... the mech says he can put it onto our planets...

anyway could you share with us a break down on the cost of the repairs? then we can compare and see which workshop is the most value for money...

i'm not a cheapo but i believe like me you also want to pay the right amount for the best jobs... like i always believe... you pay peanuts you get monkeys...

Cheers bro...

yoz... does the planet look like this after installing the mito speedo? btw does minerva still service planet since mah motor was the exclusive distributor of cagivas?

hey ven, how much was u being quoted for the paint job? and where? pls advice thanks

heh heh... bikepics.com... yup that's how it will look after installing the mito speedo... venka you'd better hurry for the speedo if not i'll beat you to it already... haha.. actually my speedo spoilt abt a week liao... after i install the boyesen reeds my speedo went bonkers... not to the fault of the reeds though... i'm now looking for the belly pan.. and starter switch... mine didn't come with the pan... and my starter switch has a tiny crack... sianz... i think for paint jobs can try defu lane there... got a few shops and the prices very reasonable... tank+mudguard+seat fairing = $ 200... or can D.I.Y... my paint job i D.I.Y... its quite simple...

Angelus, thats the best thing Ive heard in a long time... Ive always wanted a tacho on the planet... a mito speedo sounds grt! Hope to go down this weekend... dont rush in b4 me... haha. Btw u managed to derestrict ur header?

Minerva can still service cagivas no prob... recently I saw a red mito, a black planet AND a yellow planet there!! Only if they dont have stock (new/2nd hand) for any parts then well... good luck (they couldnt replace my Planet handlebar with an original, so im using a Ducati Multistrada handlebar for my planet... its wider and thus super comfy when sitting up straight!)

I was quoted $300+ by Fatboy at Miverva, for paint job + repair of the broken plastic parts next to rear grab handles and the scratches on the tank. Will have to check out defu lane as well then decide, not sure if they do anything abt broken parts though...

Posted

Venka... i haven't de-restrict my bike... cos ah chong, my mech, said i have to leave it there for a day before he can finish the job... quoted me 60 bucks... then i changing my sprockets and chain.... he quoted me 130 for front and rear plus chain... any idea what brand is the original sprocket? if 130 is for some shitty brand than i might want to try afam... not sure which one...

my tyres are due for a change as well... going to try those bridgestone battlax... whooooo.... soon i'll be dragging my knee baby... hahaha

but i'll share more info once i change those stuff... cheers...

P.S. dun worry venka... you can have the speedo... i won't beat you to it... unless you tell me you not interested liao...

Can i ask. If i wanna buy parts like the switches to the headlight or killswitch etc.. those kind of parts which aren't like sprockets etc, does minerva have a certain showroom i can go in look ard and choose parts? or must send the the workshop to tell them wat i wan done etc?

Posted

phew... some dollars muz be spent for my planet then hahaa...

where can the reeds be installed then?

angelus, wads a belly pan & how does ur bike feel when the cts valve opened? any feeling of sudden surge in acceleration? dunno mine was de restricted or not but i dun feel the sudden surge of power.... juz the power built up steadily...

my speedo oso siao siao... for the 1st 20mins on expressway, the needle was fine, after dat, it began to jump. for speeds ard 100km/h still din jump dat badly, when i tried to keep up wit my friends' bigger bikes, wow..

and my bike din start after work today! i did keep the rpm high enough when i rode to work last night ( by the handle bar vibrating & the engine sounds ) but in the morning when i hit the starter switch, the starter motor ran abit & stopped, can see the neutral & oil lights dim when the motor started & bright again when i released the switch. the bike started easily when i push start it. so wad happened? the batt should be pretty charged up last night, or could the batt was drained by something elses through the night? i've switched off the headlight, engaged the engine kill switch, turned the key to lock, and checked if the parking lights was accidentally selected before i started work. or the batt was old and need changing?

would be using a voltmeter to check out the recitifier & wd40 to clean the connectors after i woke up later in the afternoon... wad brands of cleaners can be used to clean connectors? would wd40 do fine?

Jon, the reeds can be installed at weda of FJT... both shops at rowell road at jalan besar there.... or you can try your mechanic... the belly pan is something like a fairing but on the bottom... it covers the header... our bikes originally came with them... but mine second hand so dunno wat hppened liao... WD40 is one of the best contact cleaners... use it...

rongx... you james(Nastro design SP) friend izzit? anyway, the switch got no show room to view... must call the minerva parts department to check... if have then you can ask them to quote you the price over the phone... best is to wait till mah motor take over the servicing then change... at least can compare price see who cheaper...

Hi guys

Following here is a copy and paste, from my email, of a few exchanges which I just recently had with Mah's Sales Dept. You guys decide what to make of it.

Dear Mah Motors,

I am writing this on behalf of the Cagiva riders who are all now

rather baffled regarding the Cagiva Distributorship.

As of recent, we have learnt that the distributorship has gone from

Minerva to your company, and that Minerva will no longer be carrying

spare parts in. Last week, I made a call to your sales department,

only to be told that the only Cagiva you guys had was a 2nd hand

Planet! The person over the phone also seemed to have no clue when I

asked about your distributorship status. That was rather shocking as I

was expecting something more.

Meanwhile, I would like, on behalf of the other riders, to confirm the

availability of spare parts from your showroom, as well as when they

will be arriving, if at all.

Thank you for your time and anticipating a positive reply from you soon.

Regards,

Andy

Hi Andy

It is confirmed that we have taken over the Cagiva distributorship. However, as Proton has just taken over MV Augusta, Husqvarna and Cagiva, they are still ironing out the parts and production. We are also ironing out the final details with them.

Please do not worry, as we will be fully supporting both the parts and bikes for the 3 brands. We predict to be ready by September. Do look out for further developments and we will be in touch with you.

Regards

Hi there,

Thank you very much for your reply. I am sure that the Cagiva

community in Singapore will be absolutely delighted to hear that.

However, there are still a few issues which I would like to clarify on

behalf of them.

1.) Will Mah be selling the Cagiva parts to other workshops? Or will

it be a monopoly? I have heard quite a few times that it is rather

difficult to get parts from Mah.

2.) If we do need parts, would we be required to service only at your

workshop? Or will you be appointing other workshops as dealers as

well? Plus, how different will your pricing be compared to Minerva's

price previously?

3.) Are we able to foresee any kind of community programmes? Such as

Italian Bike gatherings or track days?

The rest of the community, and myself, await your positive response!

Thank you once again.

Regards,

Andy

Hi Andy

To briefly answer your questions.

1) We are still unable to ascertain if we will be appointing dealers. As you are most probably aware, most motorcycle dealers in Singapore are not willing to sell italian bikes. Cagiva is also unable to confirm anything at the moment as the factory is till operating with minimal output pending further plans by Proton.

2) Rest assured our pricing should be similar or better than Minervas'.

3) We will definately be conducting events. Do look out for our Husqvarna 510 in this week's supermotard race at kallang.

I will be contacting you once we have ironed out final details regarding Cagiva with Proton.

Regards

By the way, apart from Minerva and First Motor, where else do you guys service now? Because I've found a really good/reliable workshop in Alexandra with great mechs. Don't worry, I'm not trying to sell anything here nor I am going to profit in anyway. The only thing I'll gain from this is the joy of seeing the Cagiva bikes being serviced well without the owners having to worry about their next ride on the bike.

great info kRon... kudos to you... btw which mechanic do you go to in alexandra?

currently serviciing my bike at planet motors at ubi... first motors more for mito... i went there before too... the mech there very friendly and helpful... but i chose planet motors cos they had a seond hand piston for me when i needed one and since then i kept going back there....

I've been getting my baby done there at Race Werks for the past few months already. So far so good. Recommended it to quite a few other people. Talk about FM...about two weeks ago, another mito friend of mine dropped by FM to do basic service or something and he said that there were no more mitos there lol. Ah seng even asked him where all the mitos have gone. Lol...

Parts wise, RW doesn't really stock up, but they'll get it for you if you want. Now there're quite a few aprilias and mitos there, as well as other bikes as well. If you need any more info just let me know! :thumb:

Cheers!

Hi All Fellow Planeteers (and perhaps Raptoreers),

I have recently got my hands of this extremely beautiful machine that I can't take my eyes off.

Almost 6 months in fact. Haven't got the time to really get into sprucing the beauty up until recently, and now I just can't wait to meet other fellow Planeteers to share the love.

Makes me proud to cruise around in the sleek curves of the Planet, and not to mention the handling ability, which doesn't cease to amaze me.

I looked into the past treads but found no outing for this select conoisseurs of entry-level Italian nekkid beauties.

Who would like to do a quick coffee / makan outing next weekend 27 or 28 Aug?

Perhaps that can evolve into a track session as mentioned earlier.....

I have the tech specs of the Planet here but unfortunately it doesnt say which brand the sprockets are... only that the original gearing is supposedly 14/43.

Angelus, do u have the address for First motors & Planet motors? I need to go down there for the speedo as well as checking the recharging of my bike... I replaced a faulty rectifier which was overcharging the batt, but recently my batt is not charging at all!! Sigh could be the relay coil which is faulty (another $200+). I dont know when I can finally stop repairing and start sprucing up the bike :(

Jonathan, hopefully ur not having the same problems with ur batt anymore, if not we can try to go down to the workshop together...?

Kr0n it will be grt if u can post the address for Race werks as well... always good to know!

One more thing, I will get around to posting the cost of repairs at Miverva so that we can all compare and see which workshop is the best VFM :)
