I did mine bro and got 153.79bhp & 73.49ft-lbs torque,Ah Siong told me it wasn't good and something might be wrong so now i'm paranoid...I still whacked my bike in PG and up to Sepang the other day without problems...so wondering if what he said had any truth to it. Plus, other dyno results overseas show 160bhp and above...

2 things to note:

1) your mapping, tuning is not done properly to suit whatever mods your bike has and therefore the low bhp after the dyno results.

2) overseas show higher bhp due to weather reasons. the cooler the weather, the better for the bike but not as in those north pole or south pole climate.

What say u

so any idea what figures I should aim for with proper tuning?

so what's the mods that u did to your bike?

any mods on engine also?

Just Arrow exhaust and BMC filter. I put on a brand new chain and I had 1 faulty ignition coil, wonder if that hindered the performance when bike was dynoed..

is your exhaust slip ons or full system?

yes faulty ignition coil does have an effect on the results one way or the other.

u may wan to check ur compression of ur cylinder. my first dyno with LV slip on was around 162hp but drop to 140++ due to valve n cylinder issues. anyway dolf.. frankly speaking.. IF u cant feel the difference in power delivery to ur bike.. dun change anything.. its just not worth it.

hi guys, just asking. anyone tried both the 08 n 09 model? does the crossplane crankshaft really makes a lot of diff? as for the 08 and 09 model, which will generate more heat under the seat?

hi guys, im a newbie in this forum

r1 09 with cross plane engine, 20 kilos HEAVIER and far more fuel hungry. it was a bad move by yamaha in the short term in hind sight. If you have no idea about bike but have a hole burning in your pocket then I suggest you buy the 09, it will be better in the long run and retain value, corner better, and teach you how to wheelie quiker. :cheeky:

Power wise I think they are pretty much even, it just depends on when you want the power. Crossplank delivers (correct me if I'm wrong) a much more even power range from the low revs all the way to the top end, whereas a standard inline wont be as great at the low revs, but when you go past 6k RPM (as someone else has pointed out), the power will just come out at you

09 R1s were supposed to have a smoother torque delivery, this was the point of the cross plane engine but I don't see why this couldn't have been done with milder cams in a regular engine, especially since they cut the top end power and made it heavier. I like all the bikes, even the 09 yamaha for looks, but it looks fat. 08 was sexier, faster and more exciting.

just my point of view

Its not how fast your speeding is.. Its how fast your reactions are:cool:

thats what ah siong told me to do...wow 162,yammy...ya frankly I have no probs with the power on this bike after changing the faulty ignition. I really dont want to open up my engine and hope I never have to after hearing some horror stories. Tks bro!:)

...of course they are slip-ons as Arrow full systems are illegal from what I've heard;)...hehehe

Got 20kg heavier? Anyway the increase in weight is due to the stock exhaust not the engine.

When I riding the 08' I feel abit of lag time when i open throttle for a sudden pickup... Maybe abt 0.5sec lag before the bike shoot up... thus I feel it's nt really good in picking up ... (or maybe my balls small) but

Can't agree with u more that the 08' is much sexier and maybe the Best of the Best looking :p

Hello fellow R1 '07-08 riders. I've changed to a new battery recently as i experienced difficulty to start my bike at certain times. I've been using original battery for about 7-8 months until this happened and I have to change to a new one after checking at the bike shop. Coil is working as the voltmeter shows the chargin of the batt. Anyone having similar problems? Also heard that R1 '07-08 have battery problems. How long can ur batt last? Pls enlighten me. Thank u!

You sure its the Battery problem?

07-08 known for the TPS problem......

Lifespan of battery is subjective...1stly depends on how it was 1st commission.....then to the usage and maintenance carried out.

Anyway mine 2006, had starting problem.....then changed the starter solenoid relay. Problem solved.
