the horsepower of R1 is lower than G1. even with aka tail (probably with full exhuast system) can only reach the horsepower of a stock G1. no way the gixxer lose to R1.

I got a video clip of GSXR1000K chasing a determine 99' R1.

Did anyone saw it...I dunno how to put it here leh!!

so what happened?? the r1 was faster? or the gixxer? stock on stock the gixxer will always be faster than the r1... on straights.. out of the turns.. but otherwise the 954 and 02 r1 will be easier to ride fast...

anyway i aint sure about Desmonds surname, but to those here who dont know who he is... i think he holds a certain track record on PG at some time for fastest national rider or something... anyhow, he is/was a racer... and his sps is quite done up... ;)

G1 chasing after 99 R1 with Akrapovic...They challenge on roll on at 6 gear...and oso twice trying top speed from 2 or third gear I think...

G1 just got no chance to overtake that Akrapovic R1. Coolz siah!!

I think I saw a similar clip but a different version, the R1 trying hard to catch up with the G1. The gap is abt 3 or 4 car length. The G1 slow down twice for the R1 to catch up then it speed off again. I think the G1 rider really piss off the R1 rider.

I am using one.. TL1000R.. Very torque.. 1st gear can hit 100kmh..second somewhere around 160-170kmh... Find it very hard to keep it grounded to the road..during hard acceleration...

my bikes fuel consumption 1L: 16km

Pros: Powerfull.. i smoke out R1 and Blackbird d other day... with ease..

Cons: Damn hot under cradle.. it will boil ur eggs :bounce: ...Trust me.. Thinking bout something to block the heat(maybe pasting carbonfibre ? i dunno) It has a nick name in U.S--> Widow Maker hence the resale value is very low...

Blackbird i believe... R1? The guy nv play wif u izit?

With ease? R1 pick up to 100km/h in less than 3 seconds... With ease meaning u can do it in 1 or 2 seconds? Than u oso faster than G1 liao...

Sorry but i dun really believe cuz if its such a powerful bike, it wont be selling at 7K with no takers...

Guess the bad pt is the heat and weight. Tat's why its value is very low.

I wont dare to say it will smoke R1 but there's a fight i tink. Depends on rider's skill oso. Powerful bike but hand to a newbie is as good as nothing.

true...but do u know the RVF is intended to breathe better when it has 2 mufflers?

i've seen this mod on some website of UK or japan.

if u see the RVF engine...2 extractor from the 1st two cylinders routs out to the rear...combine with the two extractors from the Rear Two cylinders to become one exhaust muffler.

ideally...the front and rear set of extractors should each have its own muffler to help flow exhaust more freely.

as African Twin..welll me no ride that bike so i dunnno.

I am riding a TLR now. Very powerful indeed. i don't have to accelerate hard or do anything funny when starting off at a traffic light, and yet i am already able to beat all the other bikes and cars by a huge distance..no joking!

pick-up for this bike is extremely fast. gear 2 can only be reached at about 40 to 50kmh, otherwise you can feel the engine dying off like that.

Bike definitely can hit 280kmh without a problem. As for the heat problem mentioned by someone earilier. This is solved in my bike. All i did was bring to the repair shop, they added a switch to control the fans. the fans can now be switched on at will, and not only turned on at 105FI as designed for cool climate.

Anyway, I am hoping to sell off my TLR. My dad bought a car. I am sharing the cost of it with him for the car. As my dad has retired and seldom go out, the car is practically mine. Because of that, my TLR has been collecting dust and soot at my carpark manz!!...haha

Anybody interested can PM me. Its COE is till 2011, very low milage at aroung 45k. Extremely good condition as i look after real well. FU plate. Looking at around 10k.

for interested guys in the TLR, you can go to http://www.tlplanet.com or http://www.tl1000.com for information and discussion pertaining to the TLR or TLS. These sites are very helpful and informative for the TLR.

As far as I'm concerned,I find that the TLR is not as terrible as what others say. I'm riding one and I find that the weight issue is subjective. Rode a VTR before also and sit on a Duc also. Weight is about the same for all. V-twins are generally "heavy" as what some people would say as compared to IL4.

Generally, getting a V-twin is a very personal choice. You get a V-twin bcos you like V-twin engine. Talking about V-twin engine, its difference compared with the IL4 is probably, the sound, the feel and the handling.

As for the heat that mentioned, yes its very hot. try to plan your jounery. Dun get caught in a jam, its very irritating. Possible solutions are use better coolant and engine oil. It will help to keep the temp increment to go slower. And you will appreciate that when it comes to a jam.

Sound wise, its very subjective. IL4 gives a very smooth and regular sound, but V-twin gives a very bassful and throbbing sound. Wanna know how a V-twin sounds? Listen to a Duc or watch the Matrix reloaded. That is a sound of a V-twin.

As for the feel, V-twin generally has a shorter power range as compared to IL4. Power comes after 4k rpm and will reach its peak at 8k rpm approx. (max is 10k rpm before hit redline) Compare to IL4, that is very different. Thus due to the short power range, the V-twin is always deemed to be better when pulling out of corners. Bcos, you will use a shorter time to reach the max. torque of the bike compared to IL4. But when in a long straight, of cos IL4 is more dominant. Since revving high is all about it when it comes to a straight. IL4 will beat the V-twin when a V-twin reaches its max. torque but the IL4 will still have somemore rpm to go.

Handling, personally, I find that the V-twin is more forgiving than a IL4. Its power is more predictive. Hence, can say its gives more confidence to new open-class sportsbike riders.

To enjoy the V-twin, one must really understand what it is like. If you complain about the heat. Or why the engine doesnt sound as smooth, or why you can't beat the IL4 on the straight and why it is not as quiet as a IL4, then don't get the V-twin.You'll regret it. Else, you will really enjoy the TLR. As one, its cheap. After buying, you will have additional cash to buy accessories to build up the bike. Throw in a Ohlins, and some Yoshs. The bike will surely be an instrument for the eye whenever you go.

Well, if anyone needs more information about this bike, can always go to the sites I mentioned and ask the people there. Cos they are afterall riding so much longer on the bike than I did. But you can also feel free to post any queries here.

Why quote and type the same thing?????????????????????????

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken: The crownless again shall be king.

My First CL2 is a TLR and coincidentaly its my first sportbike. Been with it since aug03. Bought it due to killer looks and sex in cans bangin. Previously riding a S4 ver s. So u can guess the huge jump. Took Time to get use to the monster. But always find something new.

Been to malacca once with the thing and no sweat(Pillion n luggadge), feels smooth(140kmhish).I think there is a certain amount of truth to VTWIN taking in petrol like its free but i beg to differ in somecase. To and Fro everyday WHACK IT When its safe or coast is clear. Cruise is SG at

Well in the beginning when u have the spare Ponies, u tend to blow carbon but in times, its all about corners. After every attempt for bends, i do exit it with a smile.

Well if i have more, will try to update.

PS. Any TLR can comment on the rebound adjustment or close to that matter 3 areas to adjust????? email me or post or even call me really appreciate it

I think that a Plus point of the bike. Look very nice with these high mounted pipe.

The changes to the moulding point will also affect the power delivery, i think.

If seriously wan to bring it down, i think it surely can be done. extra bracket, new special make exhaust link etc..
