sometimes when i ride, i will suddenly hear a very loud 'pop' sound produced by another bike...then recently, i think the same problem occurred to my own bike...so what exactly is the 'pop' sound abt??

oh, and how often should i change the tubes in the tyres? a year? or by mileage? cos i noe if tyres are tubeless, at least when they are not too seriously punctured, can still tahan for a while till you get to a bike shop and get them fixed, but the tubes, once they get punctured, it's gone case liao right? as in, won't even tahan for a while?

the pop sound is called backfire

if the sound comes frequently, then it may be due to either one of the reasons:

1. carburettor tuning not done properly or gone out of adjustment

2. exhaust gasket leaking

there could be more reasons other than these 2. just stating what i know only.

if the sound dont come often, then u can consider leaving it alone.

i personally dont think there's a need to replace inner tubes for tube tyres on a regularly basis unless they get punctured.

reason being: as long as something sharp penetrates the outer tyre, the inner tube will deflat totally. be it whether it's a new or old inner tube. so unless u r a die hard spoke rims supporter, u can consider changing to sports rims together with a set of tubeless tyres.
