And it's only been a few weeks since they launched. As consumers, I'm happy but from a marketing POV, are they really that desperate to sell their handsets?

No contract for Google phones. Unlocked and ready to be shipped through online order. Maybe in the future, local telcos will provide a contract paired with the Nexus One.

as far as i remember it has been $529 USD since it first launched and there has been no price drop.most likely its due to fluctuating exchange rates.

true... phone price is $529. dhl delivery charge to singapore is USD$28.32.

 

total singapore will cost including gst ard $880 ~$920 depending on the interest rate of the USD.

 

also remember that the VISA,Mastercard,Amex charges a fee of 2.5% ~ 3%.

include that too.

According by some of my friends, the Nexus still lags. How true is it?

 

Was thinking of re-contract and get a iphone an sell it and get a Nexus One.

nexus has a faster processor than e iphone! personally i like nexus more than the iphone

faster processor doesnt mean it will be really fast.. htc uses alot of power... went to google the phone.. the touch is still.. well sorry to say.... still the same as before... the more program i open the lag it will be... and iphone only use one program at a time which is simple and easy.. multi tasking makes the phone jam! its a phone after all not pc.. :angel:

even if it's a slight lag, can still live with it....if batt dies, case close...go charge your iphone then use it again....so wat is a slight lag? iphone's batt life is really pathetic

I have a couple of friends who are using the N1. It's a techy phone; if you're on 3G, use Google Chat to talk to your friends and families for free. I'm still awaiting the day that local telcos will offer the N1 on a 2 year contract; cheaper price.

to digress a bit....i finally got the protective cover for my nexus! found it in HK at the price of abt 17 bucks! huge disadvantage cos no one's bringing it in yet but is a small issue in comparison to functionalities! lots of downloads available now from Android market!

will be a while b4 they bring it into sg. you can buy online ultra case. think its shipped from hk but price is like 19 usd now. i got mine for about 20 sgd, hard rubber type.

i am intending to sign line to get a phone then sell if off to get nexus 1 or legend/milestone.. (any1 wants to buy brand new phone without line can pm me, signing starhub smartsurf 100) after using windows mobile for years, i am interesting in giving android a try.. any1 can tell me where to download softwares and apps for android? can *ahem* versions be found?

You can find the apps through the Android Market or other websites; unlike Apple where their apps are only available through their app store. Android is already an open system, don't need to jailbreak it; what you can do is root it. Here's why you should root it.

The phone comes with an app called "Market", that's the Android Market. However, I can't seem to get paid apps through there, probably because they do not have arrangements for Sg purchases.

 

Android platform is not locked down like iPhone-iTunes. So, you can actually transfer non-market apps into ur phone.
