I recently got myself a Honda X4. Really pleased with the bike but have a question about the fuel capacity of the tank? all the specs I can find on the internet state that the tank is 15 liters, however from reserve the bike will only take 10 liters?? that kinda says that the tank has a 5 litre reserve??? I find it hard to believe that. Short of running it dry and re-filling from empty, does anybody know if this is correct? also would like to know if anybody has knowledge of how to re-chip the bike? or where to obtain a replacement chip to make the bike full power. It is a Jap import and is electronically limited to 150k.p.h. really frustrating for a 1300cc bike. thanks in anticipation.

wow, congrats in getting yourself a classic and sweet ride! this bike is as old as CB400 version s, or maybe slightly older. one way to know your fuel tank capacity is to drain your tank of petrol and go to any petrol station and fill it up to the brim, there you go, you will know your tank's fuel capacity...

it is a 1300cc muscle bike with twin side exhausts, something like a vmax...

thanks for the reply..yes the X4 is a 1300cc muscle bike. I have kinda realised now that the reserve on the tank is actually 5 litres! (a third of the tanks capacity) It figures as it is a thirsty 1300 so I guess 5 litres reserve is not that unusual for an engine that size? The bike is a dream, beautiful to handle and plenty of low end torque. But the 15 litre tank is definately too small. a 20 litre tank would have mad more sense, but hey what the hell, it just means I get to pose in gas stations more often! If anybody is interested check out my website for my Biker Bar here in the Philippines. http://www.screamineaglecafe.com I am also the secretary of a 3 patch M.C here in Angeles City called A.C.Thunder M.C.

I ride a X4 in Holland, the reserve really is 5 litres on a 15 litre tank. A lot of X4-riders in Europe have their tanks rebuilt, so they can hold about 21 litres.

To derestrict the bike you have two options. Either to modify the wiring harness inside the headlight (I can find you a manual on how to do this) or mount the CDI from a ´98 Blackbird. The last option also raises the rev/limiter by about 1000 rpm. I was able to het my hands on a CDI cheap, zo I hose the last option.

Grtz, Rob
