I was just wondering, considering the cost of a new car being at an all time low nowadays, is it still worth getting a 10yr old renewed coe car?

I know alot of pple would advise getting a newer car but i kinda like the old honda civic esi/lsi models.... classic and eyecatching....

So i'm wondering if bros here think its still worth the $$ to spend 15-20k on such an old machine?

And also what are the maintainence costs like for such machines?

just like buying an old cbr400, get one in gd condition still ok, get one in crap condition, you will be forking out more money every now and then. guess the most important thing is to have someone with experience and knowledge to check out the car b4 the purchase.

i love dividends.

COE cars -

*expensive road tax

*heng suay/ maybe more maintenance/ parts might break down often

*HIGH interest

i hope u have at least 10k for downpayment, if not, not worth it, be it used or new cars

for used cars, get those 2-2.5 years old, before 5 yrs sell, wun lose much

for new cars, try to use it 6 yrs, wun lose so much

*just from my point of view from a car dealer :D

I'm also looking for an old car to renew COE.

But prices are still very steep. I intend to keep the car for long term.

I'm also intending to get a COE car when I'm financially ready. I am actually eyeing the Honda EG series, however looking at prices of between 15-18k and 4+ yrs COE left I would rather get a newly renewed COE EK series, at 28-30k region, which i felt is more worth it. Judging by the fact that EG are getting on the years, more probs may occur.

No, I'm looking at the Porsche Carrera 911 (series 996)

Just now went to Leng Kee Porsche showroom, Pre own Car Fair, many second hand porsches for sale on display. very nice.

Saw a white terracota 996 with sunroof , very very nice.....damn tempted but have to sell my Volvo and take the hit. sh*t.

thanks dude, but i prefer to buy from private owners, not from shops.

I'm also in no hurry becos my Volvo is still very new and under warranty. So i will slowly slow scout around but i know exactly what i want.

I'm looking for either black or white Carrera 2 or 4 911 Series 996 with terracotta leather interior, sunroof and Tiptronic tranny (Year 98).

Earliest I will buy this car is mid of 2007 as my bonus comes in and I target to sell my Volvo. However, if my bonus is not sweet, i'll decide to pay off my housing loan instead of buying the car
