no problem ^200km/h. when ride up NS highway i often open up ^ 200km/h when there is clear road ahead. infact i find it very stable even when going around bends. but taking into cosideration my bike got no boxes or what ever that may affect the air flow around the bike:goodluck:

cosmic

what was the rpm when you were at 200km/h? i took my bike into malaysia yesterday and i tried up to 160km/h. my rpm was at 5.5 - 6 i think. red line is at 8.

normal? i'm not sure how fast more i can go since the red line is at 8.

thanks

cas

I dun think this bike is meant for pushing to extreme speeds, right... ya.. i know the urge... cruising at 100.............miles............ should be a breeze, in my opinion... 8)... cheers

Posted

thanks. i know that this bike is not meant for speed demon. however it would be nice to find out what is the top speed of your own bike. need not travel at top speed but would be a nice feeling to know your own bike's capabilities. but one think of sure, the torque on this bike is scary!

it's a HUGE twin! so smooth too... very good in fuel consumption. i would have opted for black bird if speed was on the agenda. but no la.. 160km/h also i chicken already...

that's so me

haha... time to get a touring windshield then... I think stock yammies come with too small a windshield... probably a nice place to start would be givi or rifle... if you interested in rifle, let me know... I also wanna try... haha...

Posted

in fact, i've changed my windshield to givi's. yet i still find it a little to short. maybe i'm tall. what is rifle? where can view?

confirm can customise... think they will tell you to leave your bike there for a few hours so that that can custom it for you if they do not have a mould for it... gonna be expensive though...

i have joined the yahoo group. haven't been active though. still new. hahaha.. i did enquire ard for the top case. was quite impress with givi maxia 52. are you using one? the box is quite huge so i'm afraid it may cause the handle to wobble. anyone has experience? i also asked hong leong on the side boxes. the cost is 1500!!! wah.. kinda ex la. although it would look nice because it's original parts so no modification. need boxes urgently. can't stand taking my helmet everywhere.

what do you use? any meet up soon for tdm?

hi cas,

regarding the givi maxia, i used it during my trip to phuket last year and i would say the handling wasn't affected much if you cruise at 140-160kmh but might feel a bit light on the handle if you try to push your bike all the way to the redzone. currently my maxia box together with the monokey rack have retired to my store room cos i had got myself a set of hepco and becker panniers and top box. would say maxia is a good buy for its storage capacity.

as for the windshield, i was recommended Eagle screen from australia in the carpe-tdm forum and i got it online. their service is nice and swift and i got my shield custom made to the height i wanted. good finishing on the wing shield. maybe u can visit the website and drop them a mail.

cheers

thanks kev

by the way, how much did you pay for the set of top box and side panniers from H&B? do you know which model so that i can search on the net? i thought of getting the maxia myself. but not in the hurry. want to see what's the best option. when you had the maxia, did you had a bracket or just the base plate screwed onto the grab bar?

cheers
