Have anyone of you known of anyone who has gotten the S10 as their first bike. Is it advisable? I'm thinking this bike is so reliable, it can be just twist and go and low maintenance, other than the regular servicing.

I highly doubt any S10 owner has their S10 as the 1st bike.

 

However the S10 so far has been just pump & go type.

Qn: Advisable or not? - Are you confident of handling such a big/heavy bike? This is subjective though. If you are physically capable, then it's fine. Otherwise, it does requires techniques that, for most of us, are slowly developed through handling bikes starting from the smallest size. Of course, I know of a person, who had the Goldwing has his first bike too. So, I don't see why not.

 

Twist and go, low maintenance? - Honestly, twist and go is scooter, or DCT. This ain't that. S10 is reasonably low maintenance as you do not have to lube your chain, check the chain slag. and generally it is quite reliable so far. For the past 2 years locally, no complains, except, probably the spokes getting loose.

 

Maintenance cost is subjective. Comparatively to smaller displacement bikes, it's cost could be higher due to more expensive tires, and more EO used. Eg., my friend's versys only used 1.9L EO for oil filter change, and decent tires can be gotten for below $300. Verus for S10, 3.6L, plus more than $400 for tires.

therefore ... S10 is a good bike with no problem ... the only problem S10 have ... is a rider like me .... hahaha

Btw, does a "beak" improves the stability of a sports tourer bike? Like what triumph and ducati has done to theirs, why hasn't yamaha add it to the s10?

Expect changes to adv tourers every 6-8 yrs at least..

Unlike sportsbikes that change every 2 years..

Look at dual sports bike like DRZ, over the past 12 yrs, only change colour and wheels..

 

It's true that newer technology develops every now and then, but if nothing is wrong why change it??

 

The new Water cooled GSA comes out due to the new rivals in the market..

A new and more powerful engine is needed to retain back consumers..

 

S10 is well known for its low maintenance and high reliability, and long service intervals compared to the other rivals..

In the end, it's your money, your choice..

 

 

Regarding the beak, GSA has it to redirect air to the oil cooler, mts beak is to direct air to airbox..

Again, there is no need for S10 to have the beak..

There's a aftermarket beak for S10 thou, but at abt SGD400, I rather save the money for petrol and servicing..

i planned to get the S10 in dec last year, but the wait is so horrible..

so got it even before my TP!! haha..

 

those with IP3GS wait for the 4S without buying the 4..

guess what, the 5 coming out this year..
