API SM and API SL.

different wise? viscosity is it?

No...API’s Service Symbol and Certification Mark identify quality engine oils for gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles. Oils displaying these marks meet performance requirements set by U.S. and international vehicle and engine manufacturers and the lubricant industry.

SM (most current) : For all automotive engines currently in use. Introduced November 30, 2004, SM oils are designed to provide improved oxidation resistance, improved deposit protection, better wear protection, and better low-temperature performance over the life of the oil. Some SM oils may also meet the latest ILSAC specification

and/or qualify as Energy Conserving.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

SL : For 2004 and older automotive engines.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

SJ (That's what most 1 Liter motor oil you are paying high price for) : For 2001 and older automotive engines.

GUIDE TO SAE VISCOSITY GRADES OF MOTOR OIL

Multigrade oils such as SAE 5W-30 and 10W-30 are widely used because, under all but extremely hot or cold conditions, they are thin enough to flow at low temperatures and thick enough to perform satisfactorily at high temperatures.

0°C (32°F) is 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40, 20W-50

–18°C (0°F) is 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40

Below –18°C (0°F) is 5W-20, 5W-30

Viscosity Grade: The measure of an oil’s thickness and ability to flow at certain temperatures. Vehicle requirements may vary. Follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations on SAE oil viscosity grade.

Tyre size does not affect rpm...can't thing of any theory for it..but it does affect your performance.

"..my timing mus go adjust"..what timing?

Heh MaverickRD...actually this is sign and sympton of battery very weak. If after push start (walk start also can..) and when engine fires up..take a long long ride and see if battery charge up..test by on/off engine and start with start switch. If its a no_no..that means the rectifier or alternator soil is having a heart attack anytime.

Hey guys,

The S4 is back in action...

Dad change the carbon brush, as it was already 10yrs old

(worn out liao)...

Was charged $40Sgd for labour at ahboy workshop.

(Mech: the huge muscular guy, Stuff: Dad bought 2yrs ago)

Will monitor of the rectifier and battery on the S4...

Both 1 years old...

Thanks a bunch guys....

"Ever Success" you emant?..freaking expansive..the best is to tell LAB which shop got..asked him to get for you. I does that most of the time. he knows I go for originals only.

In the first place, its not meant to be soft. How to explain..give you an example instead. If your pair of legs are strong and rigid, you run fast and around a bend..compare to you ot soft and nibble leg muscle and wobble easy at your knee cap and does the same thing..which do you perform better. Definitely not stable when your legs are soft and spongy while every ounce of yur leg muscle is giving you forward push and traction on the ground. :D

Ah Pek... if i use SAE40 can i add any additive to it like the one u taught in the forum???

The only additive you ever need is only X-1R. Its a metal conditioner and the only rocket science liquid engineering thing I ever come across for motobikes. Its real Ginsenf for your gearbox and engine. The other alternative is "motoup' recommended for bike oso.

If your question refers to "Blue Coral" and "STP"..no, you don't need them any more if you use single grade at SAE 40..that's what these two additive suppose to do...just metal conditioner and you are set to whack your engine to kingdom come without much stress wear and tear.

One other think you can do is have two litre multigrade mix with one single grade 40w..that is what I'll do if I have my hands on a single grade 40w.
