My Version S just went for full service 3 months back and just recently I found my bike engine area getting heated up very easily while riding. Checked my coolant reservoir and its dry...

Anyone has this problem of coolant drying up so quickly? What causes the coolant to dry up so quickly? Used Maxima Coolant-Aide when I went for full service.

Hi guys,

As I know, 1.7 or 1.8rpm is too high liao. Mine is when its cold at 1.0rpm when heated it will be at 1.2 or 1.3rpm. More than that your engine eating more fuel. of course it gives out more power lah but no use lah singapore so small :cheeky: .

Go ask mech to retuned it for you.

For a bike worth $3200 and Coe end 2008 I guessed got problem liao. My fren bought an FP plate Ver S at $3500 coe add 10yrs (Bike condition damn good). Mine FP plate $2800 Coe mid 2008 (Bike condition ok2 for me). Maybe your bike condition still new thats why its very expensive? but I guessed it your choice to decide.

Actually I just went to checked with my mech regarding why my engine heat up so high. he said its nothing wrong. its just normal. Coolant reservoir better checked at the one under the gas tank. if there is no water there, then its time to change. checking the coolant reservoir wont help it. Open the radiator cap and turn on the engine. when you pulled the throttle coolant will come out. if there is a spillage, then it shows there is enough to sustained the radiator. if it didnt, then its time to top up. thats what I know.

Guys, as I know, if your spark plug is old and you wanted to service your carb, better go and change spark plug too. at least can give the mech easy tuning coz with new spark plug, they can tuned your carb to the best. if spark plug is old, you tuned also no used coz you never know if one or two isnt working. then it will be useless.

Thats all I can try to help. If i'm wrong please correct me coz we all learning together. No NEED TO HAOLIAN and SHOW ANGER if we are WRONG get it? WINK2 :thumb:

Check if its leaking coolent from ur radiator.. start the bike and let it run.. ck if there is any water seeping out...

or when u change ur engine oil, check the colour of ur oil.. if its brown, good luck to u.. if oil is still black, then its ok..

open the rad cap, fill up with water to the top..dun close back, start the bike, slowly open ur throttle.. if the water goes down abit, and u can see its flowing then its ok.. if it spils out, then ur water pump is gone.. need to change a new 1

what I know if the EO is murky brown rather than golden brown then its due to water being mixed with it. usually its because of the EO cap not closed properly. if its murky then better change liao.

Actually 10W40, 15W50 , etc means it is the viscosity of the oil. The front number u can ignore coz it is usually applicable for temperate regions W means "winter".. If i am not mistaken the front number b4 the W stands for the viscosity at a certain low temp( ard -17 deg celcius) so at a low temp ur oil would function with a viscosity of a 10W oil( for 10W40) and viscosity of 40 at a high temp (.Ard 100 deg C.) In other words at 100 deg C ur oil will function like a SAE 40 oil. (See image below)

SAE is some oil standard body i think..like IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Enginners) Eg Firewire on ur computer they also call it IEE1394. Just some technical thinghy.

Correct me if i am wrong So dun bother about the front number.. Unless u park ur bike inside a freezer everyday..heh heh heh.

Been goin to Combine Motors at Sin Ming but it seems like its out of the way for you. You might want to try cos service there is good.

Btw, anyone has 2nd hand Version S front mudguard to sell? Some f***er banged into my front when I parked my bike at Bugis Tong Seng coffeeshop and made a big gaping hole in it. Willing to pay max $30 for it.

Try to use max up to 150/60 or 150/70. Else your bike a bit on the sluggish side.
